• The length of the Genu sleeve can be trimmed in the cuff area to suit the user's individual needs.
Important: Practice donning the Genu sleeve intensively with the user.
Caution: Please remember that the Genu sleeve lies directly on the skin and is therefore longer than the liner.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• Please note that the Genu sleeve should be washed with neutral soap every time it has been worn. To do this
turn the suspension sleeve inside out, clean the inside thoroughly with the neutral soap, rinse with plenty of
cold water. Any surplus water must be dried off with a lint-free cloth.
• The outside of the Genu sleeve can be cleansed with a damp cloth.
• Make sure that no foreign bodies such as grains of sand, carbon or glass fibres (OT workshop) become
attached to the inside of the suspension sleeve. In many cases washing the inside to remove any dirt is then
inadequate because these foreign bodies penetrate into the soft inner material where they damage the inner
coating and can cause considerable skin irritation.
• Many shower gels, soaps, bath additives, deodorants, perfumes, alcohol sprays etc. can cause skin irritation
due to perfumes and/or dyes they contain. Please instruct your user not to use these when wearing the Genu
sleeve to avoid possible skin problems.

SAFETY WARNINGS

• Before using the Genu sleeve in a vacuum socket system check and document the user's circumstances exactly
(c.f. item Contraindications, Mobility class).
• It is absolutely essential to choose the right size.
• The Genu sleeve must be washed carefully before being used for the first time.
• The edge of the socket must be fashioned carefully to avoid sharp edges and thus prolong the useful life of the
suspension sleeve.
• When cutting the Genu sleeve to size, make sure there are no sharp edges, corners or wrinkles. These can lead
to skin problems for the user.
• The user must be given exact instructions on how to put on the Genu sleeve and should practice it several
times. Always give the user the enclosed User Instructions. These contain the necessary instructions on how to
put on the Genu sleeve properly.
• Make sure that the comfort zone on the Genu sleeve is positioned as closely as possible at the level of the
patella.
• Check that the suspension sleeve fits without any wrinkles or tension.
• Please give the user comprehensive instructions on caring for the Genu sleeve and his skin, as experience has
shown that these can lead to skin irritation in the majority of cases.
• Do not pull up the Genu sleeve with sharp objects or fingernails as these may damage the material (Fig. 11 ).
• Do not wash the Genu sleeve in a washing machine as this could impair the function of the suspension sleeve
(Fig. 12).
• Please tell your user to keep the suspension sleeve with the coating on the outside after cleaning to prevent the
inner coating sticking together.
• The Genu sleeve must always be pulled down over the foam wedge supplied when not in use. Do not store at
over 40°C, otherwise the suspension sleeve could be damaged.
All the instructions and recommendations must be adapted to the needs of the individual user.
INSPECTION
The inspection interval for the Genu sleeve depends on how the user treats it. The more active the user is, and the
longer he wears the suspension sleeve during the day, the higher the degree of wear and tear and the Genu sleeve
should be inspected earlier.
An inspection of the Genu sleeve is recommended after at least three months.
Inspect for the following
• Damage to the inner coating
• Damage to the texture on the outer surface
