Read through the instructions before you begin to work.
Check that all parts are included in the package.
Items in illustrations in the instructions may differ from the
model being worked on.
The illustrations are used for different instructions and may
therefore vary between engine models.
The essential information is correct.

IMportant! Make sure that the main switch is off.
notIcE! In order for the Volvo Penta ACP IPS to perform cor-
rectly, the iron anode in the IPS exhaust outlet must be installed.
The other IPS corrosion protection must be removed.
location of the transom units
• The transom bending radius may not be less than 9 meters
(29.5 ft). Refer to Figure C.
• Make sure the unit's installation area is smooth and even.
• Install the unit facing up. Refer to Figure E.
• The unit must be installed as low as possible, at least 50 mm
(2") beneath the water line.
• When installing the unit in a recess, make sure that there is a
clearance of (50 mm (2") surrounding the unit.
• Installation distance to the nearest metal shall be equal to or
greater than 205 mm (8") to ensure that the metal is not affec-
ted by the ACP-system.

location of the corrosion protection Module (cpM)
• The CPM should be assembled inside the engine room on the
transom, preferably above the water line. Refer to Figure J.
• Choose a location close to the centre line, allowing the drive
bonding cables to reach the solenoid protections, where they
are to be connected. Refer to Figure L.
I: assemble the transom unit
1. Draw a vertical line and a horizontal line on the transom.
Place the jig so that the lines fit with the markings on the edges
of the jig, and fasten it with two screws (not included), as shown
in Figure D.
2. Drill the four 13 mm (½") diameter bolt holes with regard to the
orientation of the transom unit. Refer to Figure E.
3. Undo the screws fastening the jig to the transom, as shown
in Figure F, and remove the jig. Drill the cable grommet hole,
diameter 2" or 52 mm, using a hole saw, as shown in Figure G.
IMportant! Make sure the hole located at the intersection of
the two lines is used as a centre hole to guide the hole saw.
4. Assemble the Transom unit on the transom. First, lead the
cables through the cable grommet hole. Refer to Figure H
5. Seal the holes using appropriate sealant, refer to Figure H.
6. Brush water-resistant grease on the bolts. Fasten each bolt
using a washer and locking nut. Refer to figure H. Tightening
torque 20 Nm. (15 lb.ft).
notIcE!
The tightening torque refers to the installation and is
not intended for follow-up draft.
7. Fasten the grommet with plastic washer and grommet nut.
First, fasten the grommet nut by hand. Tighten it another ¼ - ½
turn, using a wrench. Refer to Figure I.
II: assemble the corrosion protection Module (cpM)
1. Use the CPM as a template and mark out the three holes.
2. Drill pilot holes.
3. Assemble the CPM. Fasten it with washers and appropriate
screws (not included).
III: connecting the cables
Refer to Figure K: An overview of the Volvo Penta ACP IPS sys-
tem cabling.
IMportant! Make sure that there are no hidden cable joints,
and always secure cables carefully to avoid exposure to water
and hot or moving parts.
1. Connect the 12-pin connector of the Transom unit to the
Corrosion Protection Module (CPM) socket marked "TRANSOM
UNIT 1" and "TRANSOM UNIT 2" (white). Refer to Figure L.
2. Fasten the cable terminal marked "BONDING TO PORT
DRIVE", and one of the bonding cable terminals at the solenoid
guard of the outer port IPS unit (#1). Add M8 washers between
cable terminals and the solenoid guard. Tighten to 25 Nm (18
lb.ft) Refer to Figure L.
notIcE! For TRIPLE installations, bond IPS unit #1 to IPS unit
#2, IPS unit #2 to IPS unit #3, as shown in Figure A.
notIcE! For QUAD installations, bond IPS2 unit #1 to IPS unit
#2, IPS unit #2 to IPS unit #3, IPS unit #3 to IPS unit #4, as
shown in Figure B.
