Explanations of wear parts
Handles
The handles are subject to natural wear through abrasion, based on their function. They must be replaced
at regular intervals. Handles that do not sit firmly in place must be replaced immediately.

Brake linings

Regularly check the condition of the brake linings. If the lining is less than 0.8 mm thick, then replace both linings.
Linings must also be replaced if there is oil on the lining, since this will significantly reduce braking power.

Brake disc

Friction between the brake linings and disc cause wear on both components.
The brake disc reaches its wear limit once it is less than 1.5 mm thick.

Brake cable and sheath

Brake cables must be checked and serviced occasionally, since they are very susceptible to dirt and wetness.
Check regularly whether any individual leads have broken. If so, replace the entire brake cable immediately.
There is friction between the brake cable and outer sheath during braking, and the sheath may begin to leak over
time due to cracks. This will allow moisture to enter and form rust on the steel cables. In this case, replace both
the brake cable and sheath immediately.
Handlebar / stem unit, knee pad and knee pad support
These components are subject to dynamic loads while driving. Inspect them regularly.
They must be replaced if there are any visible deformations or cracks.
Headset, spherical heads, ball bearings and plain bearings
In general, moving components will always generate wear between the different components. The more intensi-
vely the machine is used, or depending on where and how it is used, wear may occur more quickly and can even
cause a complete functional failure. Dirt, particularly in combination with wet conditions, will permanently impact
the function of these parts. That makes it all the more important to inspect these components regularly to ensure
they are working properly. Once you notice functional impacts, the affected component must be maintained or
replaced.
In particular, in the case of the steering assembly, it should be ensured that this has no backlash but remains
smooth-running. If this shows any play, runs stiffly or causes mechanical noises, it should be checked immediately
by ORTHOSCOOT
GmbH and replaced if necessary.
®
Ensure that the ball heads are kept as free from dirt and wetness as possible. All bearing points with a large
amount of play or that make mechanical noises must be re-adjusted or replaced promptly.
ATTENTION:
All service and maintenance work not described here may be carried out only by ORTHOSCOOT® authorised
technicians, or by the company ORTHOSCOOT® GmbH itself. Improperly completed service and/or maintenance
work will void any warranty and liability claims.
