3. How Does the HAMGSM Work?
3.1. Switching On and Off
3.1.1. Switching On
• Turn the car key in the OFF position.
• The HAMGSM will report its accessibility by switching off the contact. The LED (on the push button
to be mounted) will blink (0~1: no reception – 2~5: good reception). The buzzer will also sound.
• Look for a better parking spot when the LED lights only once: the HAMGSM has a weak reception.
• The HAMGSM will automatically switch on within 60 seconds after having removed the key from
the ignition.
• The LED will flash every 3 seconds.
3.1.2. Switching Off
• The beeper will sound when the vehicle is being moved. However, the HAMGSM will not send a
message right away as you could be moving your vehicle yourself.
• Put the key in the ignition within 15 seconds and turn it to the ON position.
• The HAMGSM is now deactivated.
• When the key is not turned into the ON position, you will receive following message after 15
seconds:

CONTACT: OFF/ON
BAT=OK SIG=4
OUTPUT OFF/ON
3.1.3. Protection against Stolen Key
• The HAMGSM offers protection against a stolen key. The key recognition procedure consists of
depressing the push button every time you turn the ignition key to the ON position. This function is
deactivated by default. To enable this function, choose value 4 (see section 2.4.2.2. Function 2:
AUX Input).
• Once this function activated, when not depressing the push button at turning the ignition in ON
position, you will receive up to 3 SMS messages (see 2.4.2.5. Function 5) containing following
message:

messages (0 = unlimited number, 1 = 1 SMS message, 2 = 2 SMS messages, 3 = 3 SMS
messages (default), etc.).
• Example: The HAMGSM will send a maximum of 3 MOVING ALARM messages at an
activated alarm without resetting the contact.
• Example: The HAMGSM will send a maximum of 3 KEY ALARM massages at an activated
alarm without pressing the push button.
• Disconnect the back-up battery and remove the fuse from the fuse holder.
• Close jumper S2 (see 1 on the illustration).
• Reconnect the back-up battery and re-insert the fuse in the fuse holder.
• Wait ± 10 seconds until the LED on the push button starts blinking.
• Re-open the jumper. The HAMGSM has restored the default settings.
