The PM5000 control box is designed to operate one electric motor with limit
switch 2 phase 230V. max power 1HP. It is used to control automation sy-
stems for sliding gates (1 leaf), sectional doors and barriers.
Technical description
PAUSE TIMER Adjustable between 2-100 seconds. It is located on the main board
and, after the present pause time and after every opening, it closes the gate au-
tomatically. A start impulse given during the pause phase, either from the photo-
stop or photocell, restarts the timer from zero - fig.5.
WORK TIMER Adjustable between 0-100 seconds. Located on the main board,
after the operation time selected, it blocks the opening or closing operation. (Set
2-3 seconds more than the time needed for one operation) - fig.5.
TIMER REGULATION The timers for pause, work and displacement when clo-
sing, must be set only at the end of the cycle. Settings made during the cycle are
not memorized.
COUNTER - MEM The counter acts as a real limit switch, e.g.: a start command
given 5 seconds after the start of the closing operation, cause re-opening for exac-
tly 5 seconds. The counter memorizes, instant by instant, the time elapsed from
opening or closing: the rapid inversion of movement causes the preset time to re-
place the memorized time on the work timer. This permits the preset pause period
to be kept constant and saves the motors, which are without limit switch, from sli-
ding their clutch more than necessary, thus reducing overheating.
TORQUE REGULATION The trimmer fitted on the torque regulation board allows
the motor thrust to be regulated just enough to cause movement, so as to limit the
damage caused by an eventual collision between the moving gate and persons or
things. After completing installation, adjust the power output from the control box
using the trimmer, checking that the motor, once started, can be stopped by op-
posing light resistance to gate movement (reduce by turning trimmer anticlockwi-
se) - fig.8.
MAXIMUM TORQUE The motor starts with maximum torque and after 1,5 se-
conds continues with the preset minimum torque; this allows the greater resistan-
ce to be overcome with the initial torque of the motor.
EXCLUSION OF TORQUE REGULATION CARD This card can be excluded by
removing it from its socket. The connections to terminal (8) must however be ma-
de good with a jumper across the two pins, at the top of the socket (use a female
"faston" terminal: 6,3 UNI 4894 - 250 Amp) - fig.6.
FLASHING LIGHT The flashing light logic device is incorporated in the control
box. Use flashing light without logic and connect them to the terminals (3-4).

tion, showing at a distance the various phases of the cycle.
DOUBLE ENTRY PHOTOCELL 1
minals (17-20) operates during closure and pause; its interruption during closure
causes momentary arrest of movement and then a rapid inversion of movement;
during the pause, with the timer in action, it interrupts and zeroes the timer coun-
ter, which starts afresh when the photocell is free. When led LD5 is on, this indi-
cates correct connection and alignment of the photocell. 2
the photocell connected to terminals (15-16) is always operative, its interruption in
opening or closing arrests gate movement, which restarts, in the opening mode,
only when the photocell is free; during the pause, with the timer in action, it inter-
rupts and zeroes the timer counter, which starts afresh when the photocell is free.
When Led LD6 is on, this indicates correct connection and alignment of the pho-
tocell. Usually on wing gates the internal photocell is connected to the "Photostop"
to ensure protection for users who are leaving, even during the opening phase.
STOP COMMAND A "stop" impulse on terminals (18-20) arrests all functions. A
"start" impulse restarts the cycle, causing reopening for the time memorized du-
ring the movement phase prior to the stop. When led LD4 is on, this indicates cor-
rect connection and functioning of the "stop" command.
DELAYED INVERSION Inversion of movement is always delayed by about 1,5 se-
conds.
LIMIT SWITCH The purpose of the limit switch connected to pins (13-16) is to halt
the opening cycle and start break timer, if operating.
The purpose of the limit switch connected to pins (14-16) is to cause the imme-
diate halt of the closing cycle (check that the pre-set work time is 2-3 sec. longer
than that of a full cycle).
ELECTRIC LOCK At the beginning of every cycle on terminals (11-12), an impul-
se activates the electric lock, 12 vac 15 va.
COURTESY LIGHT OR ELECTRIC BOLT (Fig. 12) In the control box there are
two terminals (4-5) to which either a courtesy light (max 350 w) or an electric bolt
(230V) can be connected.
Contact SW2 allows in the open position the connection of a courtesy light and in

OPERATION OF ELECTRIC BOLT This will operate only during operation of the
motors. It is possible to connect up with the electric bolt a courtesy light of 100 watt
max which will light up at all times the motors are operating.
CLOCK (Fig.11) A daily or weekly timer clock can be connected if it is desired to
leave the gate open at certain hours of the day. This can be done only with
Programme 3 (automatic condominium). 230V clock. The two contact wires of the
clock have to be connected with 19/20 Start.
SOCKET FOR RECEIVER The control box has a socket (Fig.7) for a single-chan-
nel or double-channel radio card.
LED When the green led LD1, located on the main board, is alight confirms the
electric power supply of 230V ac.
PROTECTION A 5A fuse protects the 230v circuit while a 2A fuse protects the low
tension. The external inputs (movement limiter, photocell, etc.) are optically pro-
tected.
CAUTION Interrupting the photocells or leaving the start button pressed longer
than necessary, during the pause phase, risks fusing the flashing lamp. To leave
the gate open, open it with "start" and block it with "stop". In case of malfunction,
check whether the power is on (led LD1 alight), check the fuses, check the con-
nections in the terminal box remembering that the contacts for stop, photostop and
photo must normally be closed while the contacts for start and pedestrian start mu-
st be normally opened.

CAUTION Installation must be done in compliance with current regulations by pro-
fessionally qualified personnel. Motorized gates, doors and main doors must be
built and protected in compliance with accident safety regulations. For electrical
safety, check that all metal structures are correctly connected to an efficient
earthing system.
The size of cables and protective systems must be adequate for the maximum
power of the equipment installed.
ATTENTION As the opening path changes according to whether the engine is pla-
ced on right or left of the entrance, after connection check that: 1. at first start, the
engine runs following the opening path; if this does not happen, exchange wires
on pins (6-7);
2. during opening, the use of the opening limit switch halts motion; if this does not
happen, exchange wires on pins (13-14).
Place a jumper on pins 13-16; 14-16; 15-16; 17-20; 18-20 to use the control box
if the opening limit switch, the closing limit switch, the photostop, photocells and
the halt button respectively fail. The control box cannot operate properly if even
one of these jumpers (NC) is incorrectly placed.
To view the state of the control box state during operations, connect the warning
lamp or a 220V. lamp on pins (3-4); a rapidly flashing light indicates the opening
cycle, a steady light indicates break, a slowly flashing light indicates the closing
cycle; if the light is turned off the gate is closed.
