5.3
Mechanical connections (series MA/MSA only):
Consult the "Dimensions, weights and technical data" chapter for fixed installation in a tank with support foot for automatic coupling.
5.4
Hydraulic connections:
Connection to the delivery mouth is achieved by means of a threaded gas coupling. In series DR/DSR alone, the delivery union is preset for the
connection of hose pipes (consult the "Dimensions, weights and technical data" chapter for the rated diameters).
5.5
Electrical connections and information:
The electric connection of free conductors must be carried out by qualified personnel who strictly comply with all the current accident-
prevention provisions in force, the instructions in this manual and those affixed to the control panels.
In single-phase electric pumps without connection plugs, the power supply cable condists of two line conductors plus one ground
conductor. Threephase types have three line conductors plus one ground conductor.
The electric pumps single-phase version (except for DAD12M) are provided with a thermal-amperometric protection.
All yellow-green grounding conductors must be connected to the grounding circuit of the system before the other conductors are
connected. The grounding conductors must be the last to be removed if the motor is disconnected.
The free ends of the cables must never be immersed or wetted in any way.
Threephase submersible pumps must be installed by fitting a plug or another device on the flexible power cable able to disconnect
each phase from the mains supply and with a gap of at least 3 mm between its contacts.
The insulation resistance must never be less than 5MΩ in air and 2MΩ in water with a test voltage of 500Vdc.
Electrical equipment (when installed)
Check that the electric control panel complies with the current accident-prevention standards and provisions. In particular, the
protection degree should suit the place of installation.
It is advisable to install electrical equipment in dry, well ventilated places. Ambient temperatures should not be extreme (eg. -20°C -
+40°C). Failing this, install a special version of the equipment.
ATTENTION
Check that the thermic relay is set to a value that is no higher than the rated current value on the data plate of the electric
pump.
ATTENTION
The contacts of undersized or poor quality electrical equipment will quickly deteriorate. The motor power supply will consequently
become unbalanced and could damage the motor itself.
Unless it is correctly researched and implemented, use of the INVERTER and SOFT-STARTER can damage the pumping unit. Ask
for assistance from the Caprari Technical Departments if the relative difficulties are not known. Installation of good quality electrical
equipment will ensure reliable and safe operation. Check that the electric equipment has all the components required in order to ensure correct
and safe use of the product (eg. main disconnecting switch, quick tripping thermic relay with manual reset at compensated ambient temperature,
etc.).
Power supply voltage
ATTENTION
Check that the voltage and frequency values of the electricity main correspond to those on the data plate of the electric pump. If
the voltage varies more than ± 5% of the rated value, do not connect the unit but check the electricity main . A ± 10% deviation is
permitted for motors with a single voltage rating of 230/400V or 400/700V since they can also be used at rated voltage values of
220, 240, 380 and 415V.
Operation with two different voltage ratings is possible for threephase motors not homologated according to EN 60335-2-41
standards (seal of quality given in D/S/FI/N on the data plate).
1) set the electric pump in a stable vertical position;
2) if the electric pump has already been used, clean it on the outside to prevent the internal parts of the electric motor from being dirtied;
3) remove the nuts or bolts that fix the cover to the motor head (series DA/DSA: do not remove the connecting rod nuts);
4) lift the cover alone and, taking care not to pull the conductors, position it in such a way as to allow access to the internal electrical connections
(series DX-MX/DSX-MSX: make sure that the electric motor is no longer connected to the pump casing);
5) switch the electrical connection in the terminal strip as necessary, consulting the wiring diagram in the manual (as series DRN/DSRN has no
internal terminal strip, it will be necessary to modify the internal connection from star to delta);
6) check that the hydraulic retaining ring is efficient and refit the cover;
7) evenly tighten the previously removed nuts or bolts.
