Time delay
The potentiometer „time constant" allows a damping to take place which prevents level fluctuations due
to processing from reaching the output as a disturbance.
Potentiometer left max. position
Potentiometer right max. position
An assessment of the damping is possible by switching the position of the „output" jumper. The time span
needed for the LED to change corresponds to the adjusted time delay.
Measurement of the dielectric constant
The dielectric permittivity constants of the medium can be determined via the measuring point 10/ε
the voltmeter between measuring point and the insulation of the coaxial cable. Fill the reference range
completely with the medium. The displayed voltage (V) corresponds to the value 10/ε
E.g.: when empty 10 V are displayed = ε
Initial operation - Problem solution
With empty container the output value has to be in the Max. or Min-range depending on the selected operating
direction.
If the adjustment has been carried out correctly, when the container is filled and the reference range is
covered the lowest green LED will switch on and the relay „SIGNAL ALARM" will be activated.
If the volume within the measuring range increases, three further LED's switch on depending on the
filling height. They display the tendency of the level „low" (yellow), „middle" (green) and „high" (yellow).
If there is a powerfailure or if the filling level falls below the reference range the relay „Signal Alarm" is
released.
Problems during the filling?
If the lowest LED (green) will not switch on during the filling of the reference range, either the mounting is wrong
(connection probe - evalutuion unit), or a wrong adjustment, or the dielectric constant of the medium ε ε ε ε ε
1,25.
Possible test: touch the reference range of the probe with the hand or with an earthed metal object. If the green
LED switches on the function of the measuring system is correct. Information relating to the measurement of
the dielectric constant of the medium is given on this page.
