Orthotic joints not aligned in parallel
Malfunction of the locking mechanism
► Use the 743R6 orthotic joint alignment fixture.
► Make sure the orthotic joints lock simultaneously in the extension stop.

Shaping under the effect of heat
Damage due to material changes
► Do not apply heat to shape the product.
INFORMATION
Increased wear and tear
The orthotic knee joints are intended only for use in combination with free-
motion or foot lifting orthotic ankle joints. Wear occurs more rapidly in
combinations involving orthotic ankle joints with a dorsal stop.
Shaping the bars
Required tools: 711S5 bending irons, 711S3 horizontal bending irons,
>
711S2 bending pusher set.
1) Use the 711S5 bending irons for bending.
2) Use the 711S3 horizontal bending irons or the 711S2 bending pusher
set for horizontal bending.
3) Use a bending radius over 10 mm (see fig. 3).
4) Remove grooves and burrs by grinding.
Using protective devices
► Use joint protectors to protect the product against soiling.
Improving corrosion protection
Polish or sinter the product for improved corrosion protection. Ottobock
recommends the 618T40* sintering powder for surface coating.
► Do not heat the material longer than 5 minutes at max. 150 °C for sur­
face coating.
6 Cleaning
After contact with water containing salt, chlorine or soap, or if they get dirty,
the orthotic joints must be promptly cleaned.
1) Rinse the orthotic joints with clean fresh water.
