ITEM NO. 1340437
INTENDED USE
The product is intended to charge lead accumulators of the type's lead-gel, lead-acid or
lead-fleece with a nominal voltage of 2 V, 6 V or 12 V and a capacity up to max. 12 Ah. The
connection is made by a charging cable with crocodile clamps.
Use the plug-in charger only on standard household AC voltages in the range of 100 to
240 V/AC. The plug-in charger is protected against overload and short-circuit.
For safety and approval reasons (EC), you may not convert and/or alter the product. Non-
rechargeable batteries (e.g. zinc-carbon, alkaline etc.) or other accumulators types (e.g.
NiMH, Li-ion etc.) are not to be connected and recharged.
If you use the product for purposes other than those described above, the product may be
damaged. Furthermore, improper use may cause risks such as short-circuits, fire, explosion,
electric shocks etc. Please read the operating instructions carefully and do not discard them.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
P lease read the operating instructions carefully and pay particular attention
to the safety instructions. We do not assume liability for injuries/material
damages resulting from failure to observe the safety instructions and the
information in these operating instructions regarding the proper handling of
the product. Furthermore, in such cases, the warranty/guarantee will be null
and void.
a) Persons/product
• T his product is not a toy. Devices operated on mains voltage should not be used
by children. Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
C hildren could attempt to poke objects into the product. Not only does this dam-
age the product, but it also poses an injury hazard as well as a risk of fatal electric
shock!
• T he product is constructed according to Protection class II. Only a standard safety
mains socket connected to the public supply grid may be used as the voltage
source.
T he outlet used for the connection must be located in direct proximity to the plug-
in charger and easily accessible.
• T he product must not become damp or wet; it is only intended for use in dry,
indoor locations.
• N ever pour any liquids above or next to the product. Do not place any containers
with liquids, e.g. vases or plants, on or next to the charger. Liquids may seep
into the casing and thus impair the electrical safety of the device. Furthermore,
there is a significant risk of fire or of a lethal electric shock! If any liquid has still
managed to enter the device, immediately turn off the power supply to the mains
socket at which the product is connected (turn off the fuse/circuit breaker/residual
current operated circuit breaker of the associated circuits). Only then can you
unplug the product from the mains socket and contact a specialist. Do not use the
product any longer.
• A void the following unfavourable ambient conditions at the installation point or
during transportation or storage:
- dampness or excessive humidity,
- extreme cold or heat,
- direct sunlight,
- dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents,
- strong vibrations,
VERSION 07/15
- s trong magnetic fields such as those found in the vicinity of machinery or
loudspeakers.
• D o not operate the device in environments where there are high levels of dust,
flammable gases, vapours or solvents. There is a danger of fire and explosion!
• E nsure that the accumulator is ventilated adequately at the place of set-up. The
plug-in charger and the accumulator have to be set up/installed where good
circulation of air is possible. Never cover the plug-in charger and the accumulator.
• N ever insert objects into any openings of the housing; lethal hazard due to electric
shock!
• C ondensation may form when the product is brought from a cold room into a
warm one. Wait until the product has reached room temperature before connect-
ing it to the mains voltage and switching it on. Under certain circumstances, this
may take several hours. Otherwise, this may not only destroy the product, but
there is also the risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
• T his product should never be touched with damp or wet hands. Otherwise, there
is the risk of a fatal electric shock!
• T he plug-in charger and the charging cable must not get pinched or damaged by
contact with sharp edges.
• D o not use the product if it is damaged. There is a risk of a life-threatening electric
shock!
Safe operation can no longer be assumed if:
- the product shows visible signs of damage,
- t he product does not work at all or works poorly (leaking smoke or a smell of
burning, audible cracking noises, discolouration of the product or of the adjacent
surfaces),
- the product was stored under unfavourable conditions,
- it was exposed to heavy loads during transport.
• I f the product is damaged, do not touch it; there is a danger to life from electric
shock! First, turn off the mains voltage to all poles of the mains socket to which
the product is connected (e.g. switch off at the corresponding circuit breaker
or remove the safety fuse, then turn off at the ELCB). You can then unplug the
plug-in charger from the mains socket. Discontinue use of the product, take it to a
specialised workshop or dispose of in an environmentally friendly manner.
• Use the product only in a temperate climate; do not use it in tropical climate.
• D o not leave packaging material carelessly lying around. It may become a dan-
gerous plaything for children.
• A lso observe the safety and operating instructions of the accumulators being
connected to the product.
• P ay attention to the charging instructions of the respective accumulator manufac-
turer when charging.
• I mproper handling (wrong accumulator type, wrong voltage range or reverse
polarity) can lead to overloading or destruction of the accumulator. In the worst
case, the accumulator can explode and thereby may cause serious damage.
• K eep transmitting devices (mobile phones, transmitting systems for model mak-
ing etc.) away from the charger, as the radiation emitted by the transmitter can
interfere with charging and possibly ruin the charger and thus the accumulator.
• D o not leave chargers and the connected accumulators unattended when in
operation.
b) Other information
• I f you have doubts about how the product should be operated, or about safety or
the connection of the product, consult an expert.
• M aintenance, adjustment and repair work may be carried out only by an expert or
a specialist workshop.
I f in doubt about how to connect the device correctly, or should any questions
arise that are not answered in these operating instructions, please contact our
technical service or another specialist.
