INTENDED USE

The product is intended to charge and maintain 12-V lead-acid batteries with a capacity of 4 Ah to 120 Ah
and to provide a starter function.
Any use other than that described above will damage this product and involves the risk of short circuits,
fire, electric shock, etc.
This product complies with the applicable national and European requirements. Any company or product
names are trademarks of their respective owners. All rights reserved.
Read through these operating instructions carefully before operation. Make sure you observe all the
safety instructions and other information in these operating instructions!

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Please read through the operating instructions completely before operating the
device. They contain important information for correct operation. The warranty/
guarantee will be void if damage is incurred resulting from non-compliance with
these operating instructions! We assume no liability for any consequential damage!
We do not assume any liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by
improper use or the failure to observe the safety instructions! In such cases the
warranty/guarantee is voided.
General
• The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible for safety
and approval reasons (CE).
• The battery charger may only be operated with a supply voltage of 230 V~/50 Hz.
The design of the product complies with safety class II.
• The product is not a toy. It is not suitable for children. Pay particular attention when
children are present! Children might attempt to stick objects into the device. This will
destroy the device and there is danger to life by an electric shock!
The product may only be set up, used or stored in places that are not accessible to
children. Children may change settings or short-circuit the battery, which can lead to an
explosion. Danger to life!
• This product is only suitable for charging 12 V lead-acid batteries. Never use it to charge
different rechargeable batteries (e.g. NiCd, NiMH, LiPo) or even normal batteries! There
is a risk of fire and explosion!
• Maintenance, adjustments and repair work may only be carried out by a specialist/
specialised workshop. Only use original spare parts to repair the device. Using other
spare parts can lead to significant material damage or personal injury!
The device contains no parts that require servicing or adjusting.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's Liability
Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are to be
observed.
• If the product is used at schools, training facilities, do-it-yourself or hobby workshops, it
has to be supervised by trained personnel.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. It might become a dangerous
toy for children!
• Handle the product with care. It can be damaged through impact, blows or when dropped
even from a low height.
If you notice any damage, do not use the battery charger anymore but take it to a
specialised workshop or dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner.
Operation
• The product is intended for dry indoor use only. It must not become damp or wet as there
is the risk of a deadly electric shock!
• Operation under adverse ambient conditions must be avoided under all circumstances!
Adverse ambient conditions include: Ambient temperatures above 50 °C, flammable
gases, solvents, vapours, dust, relative humidity above 80 %, moistness.
• Choose a solid, flat and sufficiently large surface for the battery charger and the battery.
Never place the battery charger or the battery on a flammable surface (e.g. carpet).
Always use a suitable, non-flammable, heatproof surface.
• Do not use the battery charger inside a vehicle. The battery charger must not be used in
the vicinity of flammable substances or gases.
• Do not operate the product unattended. Despite a considerable number of protective
circuits, it is impossible to exclude the possibility of malfunctions or problems during the
charging process.
• Only operate the product in moderate climate, never in tropical climate.
• Ensure that there is sufficient ventilation during operation. Never cover the battery
charger or the connected battery.
Never charge lead-acid batteries in containers or poorly ventilated rooms. Explosive

gases can be generated during the charging process!
Keep the battery charger as well as the battery away from ignition sources. Do not
smoke while handling the battery charger or the battery! There is danger of explosion!
• Position the battery charger as far away as possible from the battery (as much as the
cable of the battery charger allows). Never position the battery charger on or near the
battery!
• Never operate the device immediately after it has been taken from a cold to a warm
room. The condensation generated can cause malfunctions and there is also the risk of a
deadly electric shock!
Allow the battery charger (and the battery) to reach room temperature before connecting
the charger to the power supply to operate it. This may take several hours!
Notes on rechargeable batteries
• This product is only suitable for charging 12 V lead-acid batteries. Never use it to charge
different rechargeable batteries (e.g. NiCd, NiMH, LiPo) or even normal batteries! There
is a risk of fire and explosion!
• Make sure you observe all safety instructions and charging instructions of the battery
manufacturer. If the battery is fillable, observe the instructions provided by the battery
manufacturer.
• For safety reasons, wear suitable protective clothes and protective glasses when
handling lead-acid batteries.
• Depending on the battery's mounting position, you might have to remove the battery
before charging it.
• Before connecting the battery to the battery charger, disconnect the battery from any
loads or cables (turn off the loads first!). Always disconnect the ground connection from
the battery before disconnecting the positive terminal.
Disconnect the battery from the battery charger before connecting any loads to the
battery.
When connecting or disconnecting the battery, sparks might be produced. Therefore,
make sure there is sufficient ventilation!
• Observe the polarity when connecting the battery to the battery charger (red charger
terminal = positive/+, black charger terminal = negative/-).
• Never charge batteries with an internal short-circuit.
• Never charge frozen batteries. If the electrolyte is frozen, allow the battery to thaw
completely in a warm room before charging it. This may take several hours, depending
on the battery.
• Lead-acid batteries contain aggressive and corrosive acids. Avoid skin or eye contact
with battery fluids! Never dismantle lead-acid batteries! On skin contact, clean the
affected areas thoroughly with water and soap. On eye contact, rinse the effected eye
immediately with clear and cold running water! Then consult a doctor immediately!
If your clothes have come into contact with acid, wash your clothes immediately with a
lot of water and soap!
• Never wear rings, necklaces, watches or similar when handling batteries or battery
chargers. A short-circuit of the two terminals on the battery pose a risk of fire and
explosion!
• Batteries must not be short-circuited or thrown into fire. Risk of fire and explosion!
