Normal use:

To lower a person or a load: turn the crank in anticlockwise direction. To extract the rope without it being attached to a person or a load, it is necessary
to manually put pressure on the rope (wear gloves during this operation).
To lift a person or a load: turn the crank in clockwise direction. Hearing a "clicking" noise during this operation is a sign of proper functioning of the
mechanism.
During an operation of lifting or lowering of a person or a load, make sure that no obstacle can present a hazard during the passage of the person or the
load.
To keep a person or a load in suspended position: slowly release the crank handle, the person/the load is maintained without rotation of the crank handle.
Use in disengageable mode:
In this mode, the winch allows to unroll a large distance of rope very quickly to perform a
descent/lifting operation, without having to unroll the rope by turning the crank.
1.
Remove the crank from the main axis,
2.
Reverse the direction of use of the crank,
3.
Install the crank on the secondary axis (in green colour on Fig 3)
4.
Turn the crank in anticlockwise about 50° (the crank is in contact with the leg of the
Tripod), and maintain it in this position,
5.
Unroll the wire rope at the desired length,
6.
To use it again in normal use, the crank must be put again on the main axis in its first
direction (as indicated on fig 3).
In this mode of use of the winch, if the event of excessive acceleration, an overspeed brake is
activated and arrests the fall. To return to a normal mode, return to the normal use of the winch:
put the crank back in the right direction on the main axis, wind the cable inside the winch by
cranking twice (clockwise).
NEVER ACTIVATE THE DISENGAGEABLE MODE WHEN A LOAD (PERSON OR WEIGHT) IS INSTALLED TO THE ROPE.
A FULL LAYER OF ROPE MUST REMAIN WOUND ON THE DRUM AT ALL TIMES DURING USE TO ALLOW THE EFFECTIVE ACTION
OF THE BRAKE.
ALWAYS WIND THE ROPE ON THE DRUM CLOCKWISE. IF THE ROPE IS WOUND ANTICLOCKWISE ON THE DRUM, THE BRAKE
CAN NO LONGER BE ACTIVATED
The winch can be installed and used in vertical and inclined position. Wear gloves when handling the rope.
In all cases, connections between the wire rope and the harness attachment point will have to be made through a connector (EN362).
User safety relies on the effectiveness of the equipment and full understanding of the safety instructions contained in this leaflet.
The readability of the product's markings must be checked regularly.
Before and during use, we recommend that you make the necessary arrangements for a safe rescue, should this be required.
This equipment must only be used by trained, competent and healthy individuals or under the supervision of a trained and competent individual. A third
party is required for rescue operations. Within the framework of the operating procedure of rescue, there should be a direct or indirect visual contact
(or any other means of communication) with the rescuee at all times during the rescue process. Warning! Certain medical conditions may affect user
safety; if in doubt, consult your doctor.
Be aware of the hazards that could reduce the performance of your equipment and, therefore, the safety of the user in the case of: exposure to extreme
temperatures (< -30°C or > +50°C); prolonged exposure to the elements (UV rays, humidity) or to chemical products (acidic or alkaline); electrical
constraints; the fall protection system becoming twisted when in use; or sharp edges, friction, cuts, etc.
Before each use, check that the winch works correctly: Wire rope unrolling / rolling-up system : Using the crank handle, verify on a few meters
that the wire rope unrolling/rolling-up system operates properly. The wire rope should unroll / roll-up itself smoothly and continuously. Self-locking
system: Check the effectiveness of the self-locking system by fixing the winch on its support and using a load weighing between 60 kg and 135 kg. Lift
the weight up a few centimetres, lower it a few centimetres and then release the handle. When the handle is released, the weight should be stabilised. It
is common for the crank handle to rotate slightly before the self-locking system catches the weight; the maximum acceptable distance is a 1/2 turn of
the crank handle.
Check also the condition of the visible parts (no deformation, no corrosion), check that all the screws are correctly fixed... Checking must also include
the mounting bracket on WINCH and/or on TRIPOD (no cracks, bends or corrosion). Check the termination of the rope; it should not be cut, frayed or
burnt. Check that the connectors are working properly (locking/opening) and that there is no trace of alteration due to an intensive use, no corrosion, de-
formation, cracks, cuts... Product markings must remain legible. If the winch is used with accessories (like a pulley), all the accessories must be checked
at the same time. If there is any doubt as to the condition of the device, or after a fall, it must not be reused (marking it with the words "DO NOT USE"
is recommended) and must be returned to the manufacturer or to a qualified person.
Do not remove, add or replace any component of the product.
Chemical products: put the system out of use if it comes into contact with chemical products (acidic or alkaline), solvents or fuels which could affect
its workings.
