Installation and operating instructions for catalytic heater type BF 2000 and BF 3500
Why does the pilot flame or the main burner go out after an extended period?
If your greenhouse is well sealed, the minimum air volume exchange may not be achieved, the
maximum permissible CO
automatically.
Over-concentration of CO
a) Place the device on an approx. 30-40 cm high pedestal to prevent the CO
floor, from extinguishing the flame.
b) Make an opening for ventilation near the gas heater to provide the pilot flame with sufficient
oxygen.
Why is the gas consumption too high?
The following energy-saving suggestions are good to know:
a) Please inform yourself about the minimum temperatures your plants require in winter. Do not set
the thermostat higher than necessary. Each additional degree means unnecessary gas
consumption. If the external skin of your greenhouse is made of normal glass, heating is
expensive due to the high thermal conductivity. A glass house should be insulated with air
cushion foil. As a rule, this reduces energy costs by up to 30 %.
b) Energy costs can be further reduced by turning off the pilot flame during the day.
Why is the device leaking?
The greenhouse heater type BF 2000 / BF 3500 is a safe device, tested and certified by the
European CE directives as well as DIN DVGW standards. But our 30-year's and more of experience
with gas devices shows that customers make the same handling faults time and again. With cylinder
exchange, the cylinder – pressure regulator gas tightness is often not checked by the operator. Gas
leakage should be checked for with leakage detection spray or soap water after every cylinder
exchange. The slightest bubble formation indicates a leaky connection.
8. Tips on reliable operation
a) When storing the device in summer, it should be stored in a bag, carton or something similar to
protect it from spiders and insects. These small creatures are attracted by the aromatic
substances in the gas and often block the paths of the gas through dirt they bring in. The heater
subsequently stops working and must be cleaned at a cost by a specialised gas company.
b) If the gas heater is operated with the included pressure regulator, ensure that the regulator is
mounted at an angle to enable possible condensate originating at the small ventilation hole on
the side of the pressure regulator dome (head) to run off. Condensate remaining in the pressure
regulator will cause the flame to gradually weaken and eventually extinguish.
9. Cleaning, repairs and disposal
• Do not use abrasive, caustic or cleaning agents.
• Before cleaning, switch off the device and allow it to cool down for about 30 min. before starting
to clean.
• Never submerge the device in water.
• Take the devices to be disposed of to an appropriate waste disposal point.
• The device may only be repaired by authorised specialists. Please contact the manufacturer or
distributor in this regard.
• Attention! The guarantee is null and void in the case of incorrect repairs.
• Faulty repairs pose a danger to the user and other persons.
