Installation and operating instructions for catalytic heater type BF 2000 and BF 3500
6. Start-up
a) Open the valve of the liquid gas cylinder.
b) Press the ON button (2) on the front of the device
down to the end stop and keep it pressed.
c) Whilst holding the ON button (2) down, start the pilot
flame via the piezo igniter (1).
Note: With initial start-up, extended waiting periods
are required until the pilot flame ignites; the reason
being that the air in the gas hose must escape via the
nozzle in the pilot burner (correct flame length 3-4 cm,
blue flame cone).
d) When the pilot flame burns, keep the ON button (2)
pressed in for another 15-20 seconds. If the pilot
flame extinguishes after the ON button (2) is
released, repeat the ignition procedure.
e) As soon as the pilot flame burns permanently, the
required ambient temperature can be set using the
thermostat control (4).
Depending
on
greenhouse, thermostat setting N corresponds to an
ambient temperature of 0 – 3
o
about 3
C.
Example: N = approx. +2
When the device is shut down, the OFF button (3) on the device must always be used and the
cylinder valve closed.
7. Trouble shooting
Maintenance and servicing measures may only be performed by approved gas dealers or
manufacturers of heating devices.
Why does the pilot flame not ignite although the spark jumps over at the tip of the ignition
gap?
The pilot burner is blocked due to residues of small creatures or other dirt particles. Clean the pilot
burner and ignition gas nozzle.
Servicing procedure:
a) Remove the ignition gas hose
b) Unscrew the ignition gas nozzle from the burner tube
c) Push a long, thin object (e.g. a cotton bud) into the burner pipe and then blow out with
compressed air.
d) Also blow out the ignition gas nozzle from both sides, using compressed air.
Why does the pilot flame burn but extinguish again when the ON button (Pos. 2, Fig. 1) is
released?
This is due to the same defect as described above – dirty pilot burner; remediation as described.
