Dear Customers,
Thank you for choosing the De-binder, an original accessory for the
impressBIND 140 book-binding machine from Leitz.
Please read this user guide carefully and familiarise yourself with the
proper handling of this equipment. Be sure to include this user guide when
passing on the De-binder to other users.

Safety information

Proper use of the device
This product has been developed to allow books bound using
the impressBIND 140 book-binding machine from Leitz to be re-
opened. Use it exclusively for this purpose, as described in the
these operating instructions.
General precautions
Please consult the operating instructions for the impressBIND 140,
and in particular the safety information included in the operating
instructions.
Keep children away from the machine – danger of injury.
Do not use accessories or parts that are not approved by the manu-
facturer.
Only use original parts from Leitz.
To re-open bound books
1.

Preparation

Move the binding lever
position.
Remove the lid
access to the de-binding mechanism.
2.
Inserting the de-binder into the book
Place the de-binder in the centre of the book and push it as far as
possible towards the spine of the book.
The black thin end of the wedge must point towards the spine of the book.
3.
Inserting the book into the machine
Together with the book, insert the de-binder into the de-binding
mechanism of the impressBIND 140.
4.
Opening the book
Caution: Danger of crushing fingers/hands! When de-binding,
hold the book with one hand and the lever with the other hand and
keep other persons away from the machine.
Push the binding lever all the way down several times to loosen the
pages. While doing so, move the lever only upwards to the first stop.
5.
Removing the de-binder
Remove the book together with the de-binder from the de-binding
mechanism.
Remove the the de-binder from the book.
6.
Removing or adding sheets
The book is now unbound. You can remove sheets or add new ones.
You can then re-bind the book using the same cover (up to 3 times).
