If required, instead of the standard I/U characteristic, it is possi-
ble to select a charge whereby the maximum voltage is limited
to the 'float voltage': 13.5 Volts resp. 27.5 Volts.

Instead of the standard I/U characteristic, it is possible to select
a charge whereby the maximum charge voltage is limited to gas
pressure: 14.2 Volts resp. 28.2 Volts.
Battery Charge Voltage
Switch 5 and 6
The battery charger is set as standard at a charge voltage of
14.2 Volts resp. 28.2 Volts. When there is considerable voltage
drop across the input/output cables, or when using traction bat-
teries, you can compensate the charge voltage with the relevant
microswitch.
The charge voltage can be set for 14.8 Volts, 15.4 Volts or 16.0
Volts resp. 28.8, 29.4 or 30.0 Volts.
Inverter / battery charger BCC500, BCC600, BCC1000, BCC1200, BCC1500 and BCC2000
Separate start and light batteries can be charged by connecting
in parallel using a Vetus battery switch.
When a standard battery isolator is installed, only those batter-
ies which are connected directly to the inverter / charger can be
charged.
Also the VETUS battery watch BW3 (12 Volt) is provided for par-
allel charging of separated batteries.
Battery Charging
Push the boat plug into the dockside socket, thus connecting
the inverter/charger to 220 (240) Volts. The green LED 'AC
INPUT' will light up to indicate that mains voltage is available.
Switch the battery charger 'ON' and the green LED 'CHARGER
ON' will light.
A moment later the LOAD PHASE INDICATOR and the VOLT
and CURRENT bar will light and the equipment is operational.
At first, the charger will operate in the 'BOOST' phase and all
LEDs in the current bar will be lit to show that charging is taking
place at maximum charging current.
The voltage will increase slowly (depending upon capacity and
charge condition of your batteries) as indicated on the voltage
bar until it reaches 14.2 Volts resp. 28.2 Volts and the regulator
operates to limit the charge current (see the current bar).
After some time the charge current is minimal and the charger
switches to the float phase. The charger can be turned off with
the 'OFF' switch. If you then switch the charger on, the whole
process will be repeated from the start.
Inversion
Ensure that there is NO VOLTAGE input from the dockside sock-
et. Switch the inverter to 'STAND-BY'. The 'INVERTER STAND-
BY' LED will now light up and the inverter is ready for use. Now
connect a piece of 220 Volt equipment to the socket, after a few
seconds the green 'OUTPUT' LED will light and the equipment
will operate or the ship's lights will come on.
ONLY USE EQUIPMENT CONNECTED TO A PROPER EARTH,
OR EQUIPMENT THAT IS DOUBLE INSULATED.
When the inverter 'ON' indicator is lit, there is 220 (240) Volts at
the socket, whether it is connected to equipment or not.
WARNING
When the inverter socket is connected with the boat's
mains (which must be suitable for 220 (240) Volts, 50/60 Hz
AC great care must be taken to ensure that the dockside
supply is not also connected to the boat mains.
If 220 (240) Volts mains from the dockside, or 12 Volts resp.
24 Volts from the boat mains contacts the 220 (240) Volt
inverter output, irreparable damage will be caused. This
damage is not covered by the guarantee.
When the inverter is to be connected to the boat mains,
ensure that it is installed by a qualified professional!
(Nothing can go wrong when a piece of equipment is con-
nected directly to the inverter socket).
