mechanism, creating a safety risk for the user.
Spring Retainer And Shaft

While the gaiter is removed, check the condition of the
spring retainer and shaft. Check for signs of physical damage,
including deformed shafts and cracks in the spring retainer.
Ensure the spring retainer's locating pin is secure and not
protruding from the retainer, as shown in 5-1 Spring retainer

mould line on the spring retainer is normal and not a sign
of damage.
If any part is damaged, loose or missing, the complete
remote module should be replaced or, where appropriate,
returned for service by a Dynamic Controls service centre.
Gaiter Retainer
Inspect the gaiter retainer for any signs of damage, including
cracking of the posts. If any damage is visible, the retainer
should be replaced.

The amount of insulating compound that you use is not critical. Use just enough so that the surfaces, as indicated in the images, are lightly
covered.

Push the gaiter through the gaiter retainer.

Using a cotton bud, apply a thin coating
Insulating Compound to the middle and lower layers of
the gaiter, as highlighted with the grid in figures above.
Ensure that the grease is smeared evenly all the way
around the highlighted areas and not placed in just one
spot.

Push the gaiter and gaiter retainer onto the top case
assembly, whilst rotating the gaiter within the retainer to
ensure that it can move freely.
Ensure that the gaiter sits down fully and does not have
any folds or wrinkles and that it sits correctly on the
spring retainer as shown in 6-6 Check gaiter sits correctly
