Continuation wear parts and explanations
Handles
Due to abrasion and because of their function, the handles are subject to natural wear and tear.
Therefore, they have to be replaced at regular intervals. Handles which are loose have to be replaced immediately.

Brake pads

Check the brake pads condition at regular intervals. If the pad has a thickness of less than 0.8 mm both pads have
to be replaced. They have also to be replaced as soon as oil drops on the pads because this drastically reduces the
braking power!
Brake disk
Friction between brake pads and disk leads to abrasion on both components. The brake disk reaches its wear limit
as soon as the thickness is less than 1.5 mm.
Outer casing of the brake cable and brake cable
Brake cables have to be maintained and checked periodically because they are very susceptible to wetness and
dirt. Please check at regular intervals whether individual strands have broken. If this is the case, please replace
the complete brake cable immediately!
During the braking process, there will be friction between the brake cable and the outer casing - it may leak due to
cracks in the course of time. As a result, moisture can get in and the steel cable pull will get rusty. In this case the
brake cable as well as the outer casing of the brake cable have to be replaced immediately!
Handlebar/stem unit, knee pad and knee brace
While driving, these components will be dynamically loaded. Check them at regular intervals.
As soon as deformations or cracks are visible, it is necessary to replace these components.
Control set, ball bearing and ball heads
With respect to movable parts there is usually friction between the components. Depending on the intensity of
use or the places where the device is used, wear and tear proceeds more quickly which may result in a total functi-
on failure.
Dirt, in particular in combination with wetness, adversely affects the function of these parts. Therefore, it is the
more important to check these parts and components at regular intervals for proper functioning. As soon as there
are functional restrictions, the component concerned has to be maintained or replaced.
In particular, in the case of the steering unit, it should be ensured that this has no backlash but remains smoo-
th-running. If this shows any play, runs stiffly or causes mechanical noises, it should be checked immediately by
ORTHOSCOOT® GmbH and replaced if necessary.
With respect to ball heads it must be ensured that they are kept free from dirt and wetness as best as possible.
All bearing positions which are too loose or which make mechanical noises have to be readjusted or replaced
immediately.
