OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING
If the saw chain rotates while the engine is idling, adjust the idle. See "Idle
speed adjustment" on page 37. This step may not be necessary since the
chainsaws are tested for idle speed during manufacture.

STARTING A WARM ENGINE

1. Move the chain brake lever fully backward toward the front handle to disengage
chain brake before starting
2. Verify fuel and chain lubrication oil are in the tanks.
3. Place the chainsaw on level ground (fig. 10). Make sure the guide bar and
saw chain are free of any obstruction.
4. Move ignition switch to "START" position (fig. 11).
5. Securely hold the saw by gripping the front handle with the left hand and
placing the right foot in the rear handle. Maintain good balance (fig. 10).
6. Pull the starter handle to start the engine.
7. Depress and release throttle trigger to let engine idle normally.
8. After the engine starts, let the engine idle for a minute or so before starting
work.
Note: If engine fails to start after 5 pulls, use the cold engine start procedure.

RUNNING THE ENGINE

1. Let the engine idle for a few minutes to warm up.
2. Ensure the chain brake is in the unlocked position. Chain brake lever is pulled
all the way back towards the operator.
3. Pull throttle trigger gradually and increase the engine revolutions.
4. The saw chain starts to move in the guide bar at approximately 4200 RPM.
5. Check for proper acceleration and saw chain lubrication.
6. Do not run the chainsaw at high speed unless you are cutting.
7. Make sure the saw chain stops when the throttle trigger is released.

STOPPING THE ENGINE

1. Release the throttle trigger and let the engine return to idle.
2. Move the ignition switch to "STOP" position.
3. Engage the chain brake by moving the chain brake lever all the way forward
towards the guide bar nose.
In the event the ignition switch in the "STOP" position does not stop the engine, pull
the choke lever out to the fully extended position (FULL CHOKE) and engage the
chain brake to stop the engine. Do not use the chainsaw until the ignition switch
is repaired.
Note: When you are finished using the chainsaw, always relieve the tank pressures
by loosening and then retightening the fuel tank and the oil tank cap. Allow the
engine to cool before cleaning and storing.
Caution – Do not operate chainsaw with a loose chain.
