Always use protective gloves.

INSTALLING GUIDE BAR AND SAW CHAIN

Warning – Always wear gloves when working with saw chain
1. Move the chain brake lever (E) fully rearward (towards the front handle) to
unlock chain brake. Listen for audible click as sign chain brake is unlocked
(fig. 1).
2. Remove two guide bar nuts and the clutch cover (fig. 2). If guide bar and chain
are already installed, turn tension adjustment screw (P) counter-clockwise 2 to
3 turns.
IMPORTANT: Always loosen two guide bar nuts before turning the tension
adjustment screw or else the clutch cover and tension adjuster will be
damaged.
3. Move the chain tensioning pin (fig.3) fully back towards the clutch sprocket
using the tension adjustment screw. (see direction arrow)
4. Place the guide bar onto the bar studs so that the chain tensioning pin fits into
the hole in the guide bar (fig. 4).
5. Install chain over clutch and place around the sprocket and guide bar (fig.5).
6. Make sure the chain cutters on top of the guide bar face forward towards
the bar tip (fig. 6).
