OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
7. Position the clutch cover over the bar studs. Install cover and spike bar, then press and hold
rear of cover to fully seat. Tighten the guide bar nuts finger tight.
8. Adjust saw chain tension by first holding the bar nose up and turning the tension adjustment
screw clockwise until saw chain touches the bottom of the guide bar.
9. Tighten the guide bar nuts using the T-wrench provided, keeping the guide bar nose up
while tightening the nuts (fig. 7).
10. Pull the saw chain around the guide bar by hand to check for tight spots. Saw chain should
move freely but not sag. If too tight loosen the guide bar nuts and adjust using the tension
adjustment screw (fig. 8).
WARNING
Never try to start the engine without clutch cover securely tightened.
CAUTION
Proper saw chain tension is extremely important. If saw chain is too tight,
the guide bar and saw chain will be quickly damaged. If the saw chain is
too loose, it may get out of the guide bar groove and cause an injury.
Note:
A new chain will stretch so adjust the tension after a few cuts. Watch saw chain
tension carefully for the first half hour of cutting.
WARNING
Always loosen guide bar nuts before turning tension adjustment
screw otherwise clutch cover and tension adjuster will be damaged.
Do not over-tighten guide bar nuts.
FUEL AND FUELING
WARNING
Always shut off engine before fueling. Never add fuel to a machine
with a running or hot engine. Move at least 10 ft. (3 m) from
refueling site before starting the engine. DO NOT SMOKE! Failure to
follow this warning could result in serious personal injury.
Note:
The chainsaw is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must always be run using a
gasoline and two-stroke oil mixture. It is important to accurately measure the amount of oil
mixed with gasoline to ensure the correct mixture. When small amounts of fuel are mixed, even
a small inaccuracy can dramatically affect the ratio of the mixture.
WARNING
Always ensure there is adequate ventilation when handling fuel.
DANGER
Fuel is very flammable. Use extreme care when mixing, storing or handling
fuel or serious personal injury may result.
