Electrical connection

The electrical connection may only be carried out by skilled
staff accordance to IEC/EN 60079-14.
The insulation of the connection conductors shall reach up to the
terminal. The conductor itself must not be damaged.
The current load table found in the cover of the terminal box and
in the operating instructions shall be observed.
The thermal load of the terminal boxes is based on the values of "screw
terminals". If terminals other than screw terminals are used, the number
of terminals or the rated current must be reduced according to the factor
from the terminal manufacturer's voltage drop test.
e.g. make Phoenix:
Screw terminal = 1.0 mV / spring-cage terminal = 2.5 mV
The respective regulations shall be taken into account when connecting
the correctly stripped connection conductors of the cables.
The minimum and maximum conductor cross sections shall be taken in
account (see technical data).
All screws and/or nuts of the connection terminals, including those not in
use, shall be tightened securely and accordingly to the manufacturer
instructions.
To maintain the explosion protection, the connection of conductors
shall be carried out with special care.
The connection terminals are designed for the connection of copper
conductors.
When using fine or multi-wire connection cables, the conductor ends shall
be treated in accordance with the valid national and international regula-
tions (e.g. use of ferrules).
In the case of mixed terminal arrangements with Ex-e/Ex-i terminals, the
minimum clearances shall be observed. The Ex-i circuit wires are to be
laid separately from the Ex-e circuit wires (see e.g. IEC/EN 60079-11 and
IEC/EN 60079-25).
The connection wires of the Ex-i circuits are to be marked (e.g. by colour,
light blue).

Earth connection

Observe mounting instruction of earthing stud bolt Fig. 2, 2a, 2b
The earth connection of the enclosure is made via the earth lugs - marked
with (
) or terminals marked "PE".
The connection cable must not exert any tensile forces on the earthing
connection.
The screws tighten, depending on the thread diameter (test torque refer
to Fig. 2, 2a, 2b).
For the maximum connectable cross section of the internal / external
earthing stud bolt see Fig. 2, 2a, 2b or technical data.
The maximum cross section of the earthing stud bolt has to be taken into
account for the maximum acceptable cross section of the supply lines for
the complete electrical equipment.

6.3
The cable entries and blanking plugs must be certified for type of
protection "d" and/or "e" and "t" and must at least meet degree of
protection IP 64.
Unused openings of the enclosure, have tot be sealed with certified
sealing plugs type of protection "d" and/or "e" and "t" and must at
least meet degree of protection IP 64.
The suitability of all sealing plugs and cable entries should be checked
before taking into operating.
All cable entries and plugs must be installed with and additional
seal or gasket if it is required, consult mounting instructions supplied
by the manufacturer.
Flexible cables are to be used with trumpet- shaped cable glands
or other suitable entries with additional pull-relief.
Intrinsically safe circuits (Ex i) are to be introduced on marked
cable entries e.g. by colour light blue.
The mounting directives applicable to the cable entries used shall
be observed.
When using cable entries with a lower IP protection than that
which applies to the device (see technical data), the IP protection of
the whole device will be reduced.
If, when connecting equipment or cable entries into the equipment,
connection elements with a separate test certificate are used, if
applicable, the respective requirements of the connection element shall
be taken into account.
Care has to be taken that when fitting the cable entries, sealing inserts
appropriate to the cable diameter are used.
In case of sealing inserts that are cut out, it will have to be ensured that
the insert is properly adapted to the cable diameter.
All vacant cable entries are to be closed with the certified blanking plug
for cable entries.
In order to ensure the required minimum protection category, the cable
glands shall be tightened down
(consult mounting instructions supplied by the manufacturer).
Overtightening might impair the protection category.
When tightening the cap nut of metal cable entry, the screwing is
to be protected against twisting by means of a suitable tool.
6.4
Any foreign matter shall be removed from the apparatus.
Align the cover with the base.
Screw in the enclosure screws and tighten them diagonally
(test torque see technical data).
