The scale has 10 memory spaces for basic data, where personal details, of indi-
vidual family members for example, can be stored and called up at any time.
- With BG 20 you have to step briefly onto the platform (2.2).
- Select the memory place where your basic personal data are stored by pres-
sing the "User" button several times. The data are displayed in succession until
"0.0" appears (fig. 2).
- Step on the scales barefoot and ensure that you are standing on the two elec-
trodes. Your body weight is first determined and displayed as decribed under
2.2.
- Remain standing on the scales and the body fat and body water analysis is
now performed. This can take a few seconds. During this time "bF" and "H2O"
flash alternately on the display (fig.12 +13).
-
Important: Your feet, legs calves and thighs must not touch each other, as
this may result in your body fat being measured incorrectly.
- Finally your body fat proportion ("bf"). and your body water proportion ("H2O")
are displayed in %. The scales switches off automatically after approx. 5
seconds.

2.4 Tips for using the scale

Important when measuring body fat/body water:
- The measurement must only be made barefoot and it is helpful if the soles of the feet are slightly damp.
Completely dry soles can lead to unsatisfactory results, as these have too little conductivity.
- Stand still during the measurement.
- Wait a few hours (6-8) after unusually strenuous activity.
- Wait for about 15 minutes after getting out of bed so that the water in your body can become distributed.
Measurement of body fat and body water is not reliable in:
- Children under 10 years.
- Individuals with fever, undergoing dialysis, with symptoms of edema or osteoporosis.
- Individuals taking cardiovascular medication. Persons taking vasodilating or vasoconstricting medications.
- Persons with substantial anatomical deviations in the legs relative to total height (leg length considerably
short or long).
Body fat guide
The following body fat levels provide you with a guideline (for further information, please consult your doctor).
A lower level is often found in athletes. Depending on the type of sport, the intensity of training and physical
constitution, levels can be obtained that are even lower than the stated guidelines.
