Any use of the oxygen self-rescuer requires full understanding and
strict observation of these Instructions for Use.
The oxygen self-rescuer is only to be used for the purposes specified
here.
Maintenance
The oxygen self-rescuer is maintenance-free. However, it must be
checked regularly.
Use only original Dräger parts for maintenance work.
Accessories
Only use accessories mentioned in the order list.
Safety Symbols Used in these Instructions for Use
These Instructions for Use contain a number of warnings for risks and
hazards which might occur when using the device. These warnings
contain signal words which will alert you to the degree of hazard you
may encounter. These signal words and corresponding hazards are
as follows:
Indicates a potential hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
could result in death or serious injury.
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
could result in physical injury or damage to property.
It may also be used to alert against unsafe practices.

Description
The Dräger Oxy 3000/6000 is an oxygen self-rescuer with a to-and-
fro breathing system. It is independent of the ambient air. Chemically
bound oxygen is used to recycle exhaled air. The oxygen source is
potassium superoxide (KO ).

The Dräger Oxy 3000 has a nominal duration of 30 minutes.
The Dräger Oxy 6000 has a nominal duration of 60 minutes.
However, the duration depends on the user's breathing rate.
Oxygen self-rescuers are equipped with a passive transponder as
standard. Depending on the device configuration, the oxygen self-
rescuer may or may not have a starter, and either comes with a
mouthpiece and nose clip or with a hood and half mask.
Intended Use
The oxygen self-rescuer is an emergency device intended for escape
from areas with smoke, toxic gases or oxygen deficiency.
Restriction of Intended Use
The oxygen self-rescuer must not be used in areas with positive pres-
sure.
The oxygen self-rescuer can only be used within temperature classes
T1, T2, T3 and T4 (see German directive VDE 0171 and/or interna-
tional standard IEC 60079). The maximum surface temperature is

then below 135 C.
Those wearing dentures or glasses should use an oxygen self-res-
cuer with a hood. An oxygen self-rescuer with a mouthpiece and pro-
tective goggles is only suitable to a certain degree.
Approvals
The oxygen self-rescuers comply with DIN EN 13 794 and meet the
requirements of the European directive PPE 89/686/EEC.
