Electrical connection

m
The unit must be fully isolated from the mains power supply before all maintenance and installation work or
opening the terminal compartment! The electrical connection may only be carried out by an authorised electri-
cian according to the following wiring diagrams (page 7)!
The relevant standards, safety regulations (e.g. DIN VDE 0100) and the technical connection regulations of the energy
supply companies must be observed. An all-pole mains switch/isolator, with at least a 3 mm contact opening (VDE
0700 T1 7.12.2 / EN 60335-1) is mandatory. The rated voltage and frequency must be consistent with the information
on the type plate.
The standard terminal box (IP 55) is located outside of the motor. For types MBW EC 225-250, the terminal box (IP 55)
is mounted with an attached cable.
The individual cables of supply and control line are to be installed in the terminal box separately (e.g. supply line on the
left and control line on the right in the terminal compartment).

Initial commissioning

The following checks must be carried out before initial commissioning:
– Check intended use of fan!
– The series must not be operated in potentially explosive areas!
– Check if installation and electrical connection is carried out professionally
– Check solid mounting of fan
– Check all parts, especially screws, nuts, possible protection grilles for tight fit
– Check if safety equipment is mounted professionally
– Accessories (Flexible sleeves, outdoor cover hood, wall bracket etc.) mounted professionally
– Protection against accidental contact
– Remove assembly residuals and foreign parts from the ventilation room
– Test unhindered running of the impeller! The fan impeller must not grind against stationary casing parts
The commissioning may only take place if there is protection against unintentional contact with the impeller
– Check the waterproofing of the connection cable and tight clamping of the strands
– Check if cable gland is tight
– Does the connection data correspond to the data on fan rating plate
⇒ The fan must run smoothly at each speed.

Cleaning and maintenance

m
Service and maintenance work may only be carried out by trained and qualified specialist personnel and
in compliance with the relevant regulations and guidelines!
m
Ensure that the unit is isolated from the mains and is secured against restarting with an isolator switch
before any service and maintenance work!
– Impeller must be stationary
– Unit can be cleaned with a steam blaster
– Excessive deposit of dirt, dust, grease and other materials on the impeller, motor and between casing and impeller is
to be avoided and has to be prevented by periodical cleaning.
– For maintenance purposes inspection doors and access openings must be provided in the duct system in a suitable
place.
– The motors have maintenance-free, long lasting, greased ball bearings.
Provided that the device takes over a supply-technically important function, a maintenance has to be carried out in
intervals of max. 6 months, in the case of longer standstill at restart.

Information - Fault causes

The triggering of the integrated electronic temperature monitoring system can be caused by:
– Dirt build-up, hard running impeller and/or ball bearings,
– Air flow temperature too high,
– Electronics fault
– Ambient temperature is too high
Abnormal noises can be caused by
– worn out ball bearings,
– improper vibration isolation to other parts and buildings.
Vibrations can be caused by:
– an unbalanced or dirty impeller
– improper vibration isolation to ducting or buildings
Extreme performance reduction can occur
– if resistance to air stream through ducting and accessories (grille, shutters, filters...) is higher than planned.
