8 Maintenance and repair

Before carrying out any maintenance or repair
work, deactivate and dismantle the product as
described in the "Decommissioning/disposal"
section.
After maintenance or repair work, the product
must be installed and connected as described in
the "Installation" section. The product must be
switched on as described in the "Commissioning"
section.
Maintenance and repair work must be carried out
by an authorised service centre, the Wilo custom-
er service, or qualified personnel!
Maintenance or repair work and/or construc-
tional changes that are not listed in these
Installation and operating instructions may
only be carried out by the manufacturer or by
authorised service centres.
DANGER due to electrical current!
There is a risk of fatal injury from electric
shock when working on electrical devices.
• For all maintenance or repair work, the unit
must be disconnected from the mains and
secured against being switched on again unin-
tentionally or without authorisation.
• Damage to the power supply cable may only
be rectified by a qualified electrician.
Observe the following points:
• This manual must be available to and observed
by the maintenance staff. Only maintenance
work and maintenance measures described in this
manual may be carried out.
• When carrying out work in basins and/or tanks,
the respective local protection measures must be
observed in all cases. A second person must be
present for safety reasons.
• Lifting devices in perfect technical condition and
officially approved lifting gear must be used for
lifting and lowering the device.
Make sure that the lifting gear, ropes and the
lifting device's safety devices are in perfect
working order. Work may only commence if the
lifting device has been found to be in a techni-
cally sound condition. If it is not inspected, fatal
injuries may result!
• Electrical work on the device and the system must
be carried out by a qualified electrician. Defective
fuses must be replaced immediately. These must
never be repaired! Only fuses for the specified
electric current and of the specified type may be
used.
• If flammable solvents and cleaning agents are
used, fire, naked flames and smoking are prohibit-
ed.
• Devices that circulate fluids that are hazardous to
health or come into contact with such fluids must
be decontaminated.
• In addition, make sure that no gases form (or are
present) that are hazardous to health.
18
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
• If injuries are caused by fluids or gases that are
hazardous to health, implement the first-aid
measures specified on the notice at the working
premises and consult a doctor immediately!
• Make sure that the necessary tools and materials
are available. Order and cleanliness ensure safe
and smooth work on the product.
After finishing the work:
• Remove any used cleaning materials and tools
from the unit.
Store all materials and tools in the intended place.
• Operating fluids (e.g. oils, lubricants, etc.) should
be collected in suitable containers and disposed
of properly (in accordance with the EC Direc-
tive 75/439/EEC and provisions of sections 5a
and 5b of the German Waste Act). Wear ap-
propriate protective clothing when perform-
ing cleaning and maintenance work. It is to be
disposed of in accordance with the German Waste
Code TA 524 02 and EC Directive 91/689/EEC.
To do so, also observe the local laws and guide-
lines!
• Only the lubricants stipulated by the manufac-
turer may be used. Oil and lubricants may not be
mixed.
• Use only genuine parts from the manufacturer.
8.1 Operating fluid
The motor is filled with oil, the fill level must be
checked by the manufacturer.
8.2 Maintenance intervals
Overview of the required maintenance intervals.
8.2.1 Before initial commissioning or after lengthy
storage

• Insulation resistance check

• Functional inspection of safety and monitoring
devices

8.3 Maintenance tasks

8.3.1 Insulation resistance check
To check the insulation resistance, the power
supply cable must be disconnected. Subsequent-
ly, this can be measured with an insulation tester
(measuring voltage = 1000 V). The resistance
must not drop below the following values:
• At initial commissioning: insulation resistance
should not fall below 20 MW.
• For further measurements: value must be greater
than 2 MW.
If the insulation resistance is too low, it is possi-
ble that moisture has penetrated the cable and/
or motor. Do not connect the device again and
consult the manufacturer!
8.3.2 Functional inspection of safety and monitoring
devices
Monitoring devices include the temperature sen-
sors in the motor, sealing chamber monitoring,
motor protection relay, overvoltage relay, etc.
