1 Safety

1.1. General notes

Any use other than the intended use, non-compliance with these operating instructions, deploy-
ment of insufficiently qualified personnel, and unauthorised modifications to the instrument
will void the manufacturer's liability and warranty for damages and subsequent damages.
The manufacturer is not liable for costs or damages incurred by the user or third par-
ty resulting from the use of this instrument, specifically in the event of unintended
use of the instrument, or misuse or malfunctions of the connection or the instrument.
The manufacturer is not liable for misprints.

1.2 Safety information

This operating manual provides important information on the safe operation of the product.
Read this operating manual thoroughly and familiarise yourself with the product before putting
it into operation or working with it. The operating manual must be kept in the vicinity of the
product so you can always find the information you need.

1.3 Safe operation

1.3.1 Authorised use

The authorised use of the pH/ORP meter consists exclusively of the performance of poten-
tiometric measurements according to this operating manual. Any other use is considered
unauthorised.

1.3.2 Requirements for safe operation

Note the following points for safe operation:
• The product may only be operated according to the authorised use specified above.
• The product may only be supplied with power from the energy sources referred to
in this operating manual.
• The product may only be operated under the environmental conditions referred to in
this operating manual.
• The product may only be operated using suitable electrodes.
• The product may only be opened to change the batteries.
• Particular care must be given to the circuitry when connecting to other instruments.
In certain circumstances, internal connections in third-party instruments (e.g. GND with
earth) can lead to impermissible voltage potentials that can impair the function of or
destroy the instrument itself or a connected instrument.

1.3.3 Unauthorised use

The product must not be put into operation if:
• it is visibly damaged (e.g. after transportation)
• it has been stored under adverse conditions for a lengthy period of time
• it is in an atmosphere at risk of explosion. During operation in an atmosphere at risk
of explosion, there is an increased risk of deflagration, fire or explosion due to spark
formation.
