Toasting
The extent of browning depends greatly on the type, the freshness and the composition
of the bread which is used. An increased protein, sugar or calcium content, for example,
leads to stronger browning, whereas fats and preservatives reduce it. Start off with a low
toasting level and increase it gradually until an optimum level of browning is reached.
ATTENTION!
Before using the device, make sure the crumb tray is inserted completely.
Make sure that the toaster can switch off after the toasting process. Problems may
arise from objects blocking the lowering lever, or from baked items which are too
large in the toasting slots.
With a piece of conventional wheat toast or thick slices, burning and the development
of smoke may result if the toasting setting is too high. In this case, abort the toasting
process immediately by pressing the Stopp (stop) button.
1. Insert a slice of bread into each of the toasting slots (2). Do not use slices which are
too thick, because they could get stuck in the toasting slots (2).
2. Use the rotary knob (13) to set the desired toasting level between level 1 (light
toasting; very light degree of browning) and level 7 (strong toasting; very strong
degree of browning). Note: If the device is used several times in succession, the
slices which are put into the device later on will be darker than the fi rst slices when
the same toasting setting is used.
3. Press the lowering lever (12) down until it engages. Note: The lowering lever (12)
only engages if the device is connected to a plug socket.
The device is switched on and the toasting process starts.
