The air for heating
natural convection
Room temperature enters from the side inlets (n 13 - fig.1 on page 13) located on the base of the shell. It warms up and moves along the
hollow and comes out hot from the outlets on the cover of the shell itself.
In this mode, the covers of the air inlets on the shell must be removed (n 13 - fig.1 on page 13) and equivalent air passages must be
provided for on the coverings in such a way that the air to be heated have easy access to the said inlets.
forced ventilation
forced hot air circulation is obtained by means of application of a special kit (fig.9)
this kit is composed of a metal box (69), complete with:
- 800 m³/h fan (72)
- regulator (73)
- sensor (74)
- fitting (70) connecting to the external air inlet with smoke damper and wired control (4)
- two-way fitting (71) for conveying external air to the shell
the air box is positioned next to the fireplace, either on the right or left side.
Detailed information for forced ventilation kit installation is contained in its packaging.
ThE TEchNOLOGY
Fuelling air
CRISTAL fuelling air can only be mounted in rooms where there is sufficient air power supply
for fuelling. To have the chimney function correctly, it is essential that the fuelling air reaches
the hearth through a fine pipe on the appropriate inlets, provided at the sides and rear of
the chimney. A 12.5 cm fitting (A) is supplied, which is to be applied to the inlet to be used
(fig. 6).
The connection with the outside must have a useful passage section of at least 125 cm
along its whole path. The mouths not used for connecting the fuelling air passage flexible
pipe, must remain closed with a lid.
Whenever the air volume results scarce and the type of building in which the chimney is
installed particularly air sealed, it will be necessary to install a supplementary air inlet of 120

cm
(ø 12.5 cm).

Butterfly valve
The fuelling air must flow to the hearth regulated by a butterfly valve.
fig. 7
The butterfly valve is delivered as an accessory together with a flexible pipe and the fixing
bands.
Unless the butterfly valve is mounted in a fixed and solid manner, the compact chimney
cannot be started.
Mount the fuelling air regulating lever in the most adequate position under the threshold.
