Installing the electrical kit
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the spare wheel.
3. If necessary, remove the following covers and panels:
Covering of luggage trunk bottom
-
Covering of the rear end plate
-
Right-hand and left-hand side covering
-
4. Bore a hole of 37 mm for the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/8) on the left-hand side of the spare
wheel well.
5. Starting in the luggage trunk, lead the socket end of the cable harness through the cable
leadthrough to the outside and from there to the socket holder plate (Fig. 1/9).
6. Insert the rubber grommet into the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/8).
Installing the socket
7. Press the contact insert into the socket housing and push the rubber grommet towards the
socket.
8. Screw the socket onto the socket holder plate (Fig. 1/9) using the supplied screws and nuts.
Connecting the tail lights
9. Lay the cable end with the left-side marking to the left-hand tail light (Fig. 1/7).
10. Disconnect the plug-in connector of the left tail light (Fig. 1/7) and connect it to the matching
counterparts on the cable harness. Make sure that the plugs lock firmly into place.
11. Lay the cable end with the right-side marking along the rear end plate to the right-hand tail
light (Fig. 1/11).
12. Disconnect the plug-in connector of the right-hand tail light (Fig. 1/11) and connect it to the
matching counterparts on the cable harness. Make sure that the plugs lock firmly into place.
Sedan model
13. In order to connect the rear fog lamp and the back-up light, lay the multipolar plug-in
connector on the left side of the vehicle to the wheel housing (Fig. 1/3a).
14. Connect the 12-pin plug to the matching counterpart of the vehicle's cable harness above the
left-hand wheel housing (Fig. 3/1).
Station Wagon
13. In order to connect the rear fog lamp and the back-up light, lay the multipolar plug-in
connector on the right side of the vehicle to the wheel housing (Fig. 1/3b).
14. Connect the 6-pin plug to the matching white counterpart of the vehicle's cable harness above
the right-hand wheel housing (Fig. 4/1).
Connecting the trailer control module
15. Plug the 12-pin plug and the 18-pin plug into the trailer control module.
16. Fasten the trailer control module to the left wheel housing (Fig. 1/4, 3/2) using a piece of
Velcro tape.
17. Connect the black wire with the eyelet to the vehicle's ground point (Fig. 1/5).
