4.2 Switching on and calibrating
Switch on the instrument using an external switch (there is no ON/OFF switch on the instru-
ment).
SET-CM will be displayed on the screen.
This means that the set measuring unit is metres.
The screen displays the length of chain paid out.
Press the 'UP' key and hold this down for 3 seconds. The unit
selected for measuring will be displayed on the screen.

Press the 'UP' or 'DOWN'

Wait 5 seconds after the desired unit is displayed on the screen.
In order to obtain a correct reading the instrument must be set for the gipsy used. The
reduction factor must be entered in order to do this.
The default value set by the manufacturer for the reduction factor
will be displayed on the screen, for example P 55.
The reduction factor must now be set.
See the table for the correct reduction factor to use.
