Performing the maintenance operations
Before carrying out any maintenance operation:
- switch off the generating set
- wait for at least 30 min until the generating set has cooled down,
IMPORTANT
- disconnect the "-" terminal from the starter battery.
Only use original parts or equivalent parts to prevent damaging the generating set. To perform maintenance operations, it is
necessary to open the top cover and the access door of the generating set; close them as soon as these operations have been
performed.
5.3.1 Replace the oil filter and change the oil
The used oil and filter must be recycled or eliminated according to the local regulations in force. In order for the drain operation to
be more effective, it is advisable to run the generating set for around ten minutes before the drain operation in order to make the oil
more fluid.
Drain the oil:
1.
Place a suitable container under the oil drain screw (B4), then remove the oil filler cap (A7) and the oil drain screw.
2.
Open the oil drain tap (A14-B5).
3.
Once the oil has drained completely, close the oil drain tap and tighten the oil drain screw.
Replace the oil filter:
4.
Using a suitable wrench, remove the used oil filter (A15) and discard it.
5.
Clean the oil filter holder and coat the new oil filter seal with clean engine oil.
6.
Fit the new oil filter, tightening it by hand.
Fill up the oil:
7.
Unscrew the oil filler cap.
8.
Using the dipstick (A6-B1), to regularly check the level, top up with oil that complies with the technical specifications in this
manual.
Too much or too little oil can damage the generating set.
9.
Refit the oil filler cap.
Finish the operation:
10. Wipe away any traces of oil with a clean cloth and check that there are no oil leaks.
5.3.2 Replace fuel filters
This generating set is equipped with two fuel filters; these two filters must be replaced at the same time. Fuel will run out during this
operation; provide an appropriate container.
1.
Close the fuel tap (A4).
2.
Remove the fuel filter (A16-C1) by removing the hose clips (C2) and loosening the screw on the retaining clip (C3), if fitted.
3.
Fit the new fuel filter, by tightening the screw on the retaining clip (if fitted, C4).
4.
Reconnect the hoses, securing them with the clips.
5.
Proceed in the same way for the second fuel filter.
6.
Open the fuel tap and check that there are no leaks.
7.
All traces of fuel should be wiped off with a clean cloth and the fuel tap closed again.
5.3.3 Clean or replace the air filter
Risk of fire or explosion: for a foam element, only use soapy water and clean engine oil during this operation.
CAUTION
If the filter elements are excessively dirty or damaged (torn, pierced), it is essential to replace them with new elements; they must
be replaced every 3 cleaning operations.
1.
Unscrew the wheel (D1) and remove the cover from the air filter (D2).
2.
Remove the wing nut (D3) and remove the filter elements for cleaning.
3.
Clean the foam element (D4): wash it in soapy water, carefully rinse it and leave it to dry completely.
4.
Soak the foam element in a little clean engine oil and squeeze it to remove any excess oil (do not wring it out).
If there is too much oil remaining in the foam, the generating set will emit smoke when it is first started.
5.
Gently tap the paper element (D5) several times on a hard surface to remove any excess dirt; replace it if necessary.
Never try to remove dirt using a brush or compressed air.
6.
Carefully inspect the condition of the two elements, and replace them if damaged.
7.
Check that the rubber seal (D6) is in good condition; replace it if necessary.
8.
Refit the filter elements, wing nut, and then the air filter cover, screwing the wheel back in.
