Warning! The vibration emission value during actual use of
the power tool can differ from the declared value depending
on the ways in which the tool is used. The vibration level may
increase above the level stated.
When assessing vibration exposure to determine safety
measures required by 2002/44/EC to protect persons regularly
using power tools in employment, an estimation of vibration
exposure should consider, the actual conditions of use and the
way the tool is used, including taking account of all parts of the
operating cycle such as the times when the tool is switched off
and when it is running idle in addition to the trigger time.

Electrical safety
#
This tool is double insulated; therefore no earth
wire is required. Always check that the power
supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating
plate.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the

manufacturer or an authorised Black & Decker Service
Centre in order to avoid a hazard.

Assembly
Warning! Before assembly, remove the battery from the tool
and make sure that the saw blade has stopped. Used saw
blades may be hot.
Fitting and removing the saw blade (fig. A)
Hold the saw blade (8) with the teeth facing forward.
u
Lift the saw blade locking lever (3) upwards.
u
Insert the shank of the blade fully into the blade holder (4)
u
as far as it will go.
Release the lever.
u
To remove the saw blade (8), lift the saw blade locking
u
lever (3) upwards and pull the blade out.

Saw blade storage (fig. B & C)
Saw blades can be stored in the storage compartment (9)
located on the side of the tool
Open the cover of the saw blade storage compartment
u
(9) by holding the tab on the top of the door and pulling
outwards (fig. B).
Remove or store saw blades in the storage compartment.
u

Close the cover of the saw blade storage compartment (9)

and make sure that it is latched closed.
Use
Warning! Let the tool work at its own pace. Do not overload.
Warning! Never use the tool when the saw shoe is loose or
removed.
Switching on and off (fig. D)
The variable speed on/off switch offers a choice of speeds for
greatly improved cutting rates in various materials.
To switch the tool on, press the variable speed switch (1).

The tool speed depends on how far you press the switch.
For continuous operation, press the lock-on button (2) and
u
release the variable speed switch. This option is available
only at full speed.
To switch the tool off, release the variable speed switch.
u
To switch the tool off when in continuous operation, press
the variable speed switch once more and release it.
Auto Select

The Auto Select
Dial is used to change between straight

cutting and alternative cutting settings.
Straight cutting in wood (fig. E & F)

cut position.
In this cutting mode, the straight cutting guide is projected
under the shoe and rides in the kerf of cut and the blade cuts
with a pendulum motion. Pendulum motion improves cutting
speed by adding an orbital action to the blade.
Warning! Check alignment of the straight cutting guide before
each use. If the straight cutting guide is bent or damaged then
the tool should be returned to your local service centre.
Alternative cutting and curved cutting in all other
materials (wood, metal, pvc, etc.) (fig. E & G)

In this mode, the straight cutting guide is retracted and pendu-
lum action is disengaged.
