Smoke Exhaust Fans F300/F400/F600 – B AVD and B VAR
3 .3
Installation of F600 smoke exhaust fan in fire area with centrifugal cooling air fan for motor cooling
– Installation condition ZB = Forced ventilation (see type plate)
In order to ensure the motor cooling for the F600 series, separate centrifugal cooling air fans
(e.g. B KLG 500 or B KLG 1000) are necessary accessories. The cooling air fan must be installed out-
side of the fire area (smoke section) in sufficiently ventilated rooms or outside with weather protection.
In this respect, the supply air temp. óf 40 °C must not be exceeded (Fig.10). For information on the mi-
nimum cooling air flow volumes for the respective smoke types, see the selection tables on page 9.
m DANGER
– The cooling air outlet temperature can be up to 250 °C!
– The outgoing air from the motor casing must be transported outside or into a sufficiently ventilated room!
– The environment/utility room must be sufficiently ventilated!
– The discharge direction must not be in the direction of flammable components .
– The discharge-side environment must not be accessible for persons!
Even when operating the F600 smoke exhaust fan for ventilation purposes, motor cooling through a centrifugal cooling
air fan is mandatory, because the drive motor is not cooled in its casing by the air flow volume of the smoke exhaust
fan. Otherwise, it could lead to a drive motor failure due to overheating.

Fire area
– Terminal box
The terminal box for the F600 smoke exhaust fan is mounted to the casing in the factory. In case of installation in the
fire area (IB), the terminal box must be dismantled from the casing and attached outside of the fire area (see Fig. 10). In
this respect, the connection line from the terminal box to the drive motor (line length must be adjusted on site) must be
led through the insulated cooling air duct to the smoke exhaust fan.
3 .4
Fan installation outside
Helios smoke exhaust fans of type B AVD and B VARD are suitable for use outside under normal weather conditions in
installation arrangements for horizontal or vertical air flow directions. The penetration of precipitation into the
smoke exhaust fan must be prevented.
In particular, the inlet and outlet opening area must be protected by mounting extension ducts (for horizontal air flow
direction) or e.g. an on-site weather protection cover (end/beginning of a pipe/duct section for vertical air flow direction).
The openings in the fan casing must be protected against the penetration of precipitation by a suitable installation
position (openings on side or below). In this respect, particular attention must be paid to the casing feed-through for
the supply line between the casing terminal box and motor connection, as well as the cooling air outlet openings from
the motor casing for F600 smoke exhaust fans.
Centrifugal cooling air fans for F600 smoke exhaust fans must be protected against weather influences by on-site
protection devices (e.g. weather protection cover).
With regard to the insulation of smoke exhaust fans installed outside, it must be ensured that precipitation cannot
penetrate into the insulation (e.g. weather protection cover).
