Place screwdriver in lower front notch (8) of spring cap
(C), and hold it in place while loosening and removing
jam (outer) nut (D) only.
4 With screwdriver remaining in notch, loosen large
standard (inner) nut (E) until notch disengages from
boss (F) on head. Do not remove this nut.
5 Carefully turn screwdriver anticlockwise and engage
next notch in boss. Do not remove screwdriver.
6 Tighten standard nut with wrench onIy enough to en-
gage boss. Do not over tighten as this will restrict quill
movement.
7 Move stop nuts and depth pointer to upper most posi-
tion and check tension while turning feed handles.
8 If there is not enough tension on spring, repeat steps
3-8 moving onIy one notch each time and checking ten-
sion after repetition. Proper tension is achieved when
quill returns gent I y to full up position when released
from 20 mm-3/4" -depth.
9 When there is enough tension after checking,
„ replace jam nut and tighten to standard nut, but do
not over tighten again standard nut.
10 Check quill while feeding to have smooth and
unrestricted movement. If movement is too tight,
loosen jam nut and slightly loosen standard nut until
unrestricted. Retighten jam nut.
The angular play of the spindle.
With the spindle in a low position, take it in your hand
and try to make it revolving about its axis. If there is too
much play, proceed as follows:
1 Loosen lock nut (A).
2 Turn the screw (B) clockwise to eliminate the play but
without obstructing the upward and downward motion
of the spindle (a little bit of play is normal).
3 Tighten the lock nut.

Pour dp 16 régler la bague de butée (6) sur 0 et la
serrer avec la vis papillon (7). (Fig. 10.2)
4 Appuyer un tournevis dans la rainure inférieure avant
(B) du cache-ressort (C). L'y maintenir pendant le
retrait du seul contre-écrou (D) (extérieur).
5 Maintenir le tournevis solidement dans la rainure et
desserrer la grand écrou (E) (intérieur) jusqu'à ce que
la rainure se détache du nez (F). Ne pas enlever l'écrou.
6 Tourner le tournevis prudemment avec le cache-ressort
dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d'une montre jusqu'à
ce que le nez suivant s'enclenche dans la rainure. Ne
pas enlever le tournevis.
7 Resserrer l'écrou à l'aide d'une clé de sorte que la
rainure soit maintenue dans le nez. Si l'écrou est serré
trop fort, cela peut coincer la broche.
8 Tourner l'écrou de butée et l'indicateur de profondeur
dans la position supérieure et vérifier la tension en
faisant tourner l'entraînement de la broche. S'il n'y
avait pas suffisamment de précontrainte sur le res-
sort, répéter les opérations 3 – 8 en ajoutant un cran
chaque fois en vérifiant de nouveau la précontrainte.
La précontrainte est optimale quand la broche repasse
lentement d'une profondeur de 20 mm dans la position
supérieure.
9 Quand la précontrainte est correcte, serrer le contre-
écrou contre l'écrou intérieur. Veiller à ne pas tourner
l'écrou intérieur.
10 Vérifier si la broche peut tourner librement. Si
la broche était bloquée, desserrer le contre-écrou et
l'écrou intérieur jusqu'à ce que la broche tourne libre-
ment. Resserrer le contre-écrou.

Si la broche se trouve dans la position inférieure, la faire
tourner à la main. Si le jeu était trop important, procéder
comme suit:
1 Desserrer le contre-écrou (A).
2 Tourner la vis (8) dans le sens des aiguilles d'une
montre pour compenser le jeu sans toutefois compro-
mettre le mouvement haut et bas de la broche (un
léger jeu est normal).
3 Resserrer le contre-écrou.
