18. Make sure that a blade is not in contact with the work-piece when you switch
the machine on.
19. Wait until the blades attain full speed before cutting.
20. Always switch off and wait until the blades have come to a complete standstill
before attempting any adjustments.
21. Never stick your finger into the chip chute. Shavings may jam in the chute
when cutting damp wood. Clean out the chips with a stick but only when the
tool has been turned off and unplugged from the power point.
22. Do not leave the machine running unattended. Operate the tool only when
controlled by both hands.
23. When leaving the planer, switch off and set it with the front shoe up on a
wooden block so that the blades are not in contact with anything.
24. Always change both blades at the same time, otherwise the resulting
imbalance will cause vibration and shorten the blade and tool life.

RESIDUAL RISKS

Even when the tool is used as prescribed it is not possible to eliminate all residual risk
factors. The following hazards may arise in connection with the tool's construction and
design:
• Damage to hearing if effective hearing protection is not worn.
• Contact with the blades.
• Reaching under the base whilst the tool is running and making contact with the
blades.
• Kickback of work-piece and parts of work-piece.
• Blade fracture.
• Catapulting of faulty pieces from the blade.
• Hand-arm vibration syndrome if its use is not adequately managed.
