Maintenance and Cleaning

Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains
plug.
For safe and proper working, always keep the machine
and ventilation slots clean.
Clean the application tools from adhesive and debris remain-
ders each time after using.
Replacing the Dust Protection Cap
The dust protection cap 3 prevents the penetration of dust
and debris into the tool holder 2 and additionally serves as a
no-load stroke stop.

The dust protection cap 3 can wear off with time. Replace a
damaged or worn dust protection cap immediately.
To replace the dust protection cap 3, insert a slotted screw-
driver with a slot width of 2 – 3 mm into the recess at the bot-
tom housing shell behind the dust protection cap, and remove
the dust protection cap. Mount a new dust protection cap en-
suring that it is seated tightly.
Regrinding Steel Application Tools
Good working results can only be achieved with sharp appli-
cation tools. Therefore, resharpen application tools in good
time. This ensures a long service life of the application tools
and good working results.
Regrinding with a Belt
Sander:
Mount the belt sander into a
stationary device.
Turn around the electric
scraper with the steel appli-
cation tool installed by 180°.
Do not start the electric
scraper.
Observe the running direction of the sanding belt when
regrinding.
Regrinding with a Bench
Grinder:
Turn around the electric
scraper with the steel appli-
cation tool installed by 180°.
Do not start the electric
scraper.
Take care that the cutting
edges of the steel application tool are not subject to annealing
coloration (blue-coloring), as this will impair the hardness of
the application tools.
If the machine should fail despite the care taken in manufac-
turing and testing procedures, repair should be carried out by
an after-sales service centre for Bosch power tools.
In all correspondence and spare parts order, please always in-
clude the 10-digit article number given on the type plate of
the machine.
