Before using the voice commands

Read carefully the following precautions.
Before you start...
• Make sure that the voice control unit, voice remote, and microphone are correctly
connected. (Refer to the Installation/Connection Manual separately supplied.)
• Set "VOICE/BEEP" to "VOICE," and "VOICE LANG" to the language you understand
(see page 39). This may make the voice command operations easy for you to follow.
Precautions for registering your voice:
• Words you should not use:
– Similarly-pronounced words: If you register words similarly pronounced for different
commands, the Voice Recognition System cannot distinguish the differences and cannot
recognize your voice.
– Too short or too long words: Too short or too long words may be difficult to register.
Use the words of adequate length (within 3 seconds).
• Where to register: Command registration should be performed in as quite a condition
as possible with car windows all closed.
• Timing to speak your voice: Your voice will not be accepted unless the voice navigation
"Please speak now", "Please repeat" or "Please speak again" is finished completely.
– Speak word(s) only while "SPEAK" or "REPEAT" is shown on the display.
– Pronounce your words in a large, clear voice.
• Keep the ignition turned on during registration:Do not turn on or off the ignition.
Precautions when speaking your commands:
• Your voice commands may not be recognized or executed correctly in the following
cases:
– When road conditions are not good. (for example, you are driving on rough roads.)
– When car windows are open and surrounding noise is high.
• In the Standard Word mode: Due to the characteristics of your voice, the Voice
Recognition System may fail to recognize your Operation Commands you speak and
they cannot be executed correctly. If this happens, use the User Word mode.
• In the User Word mode: If an operation different from one you have commanded is
executed, or if your command is ignored so frequently, try to change and register different
words again.
