ELMON inductive 70-755
Inductive signal transmission system

7. Mechanical mounting

• Mechanical mounting of the safety relay is to be performed professionally at a suitable mounting location.
• Do not install the switching unit in the immediate vicinity of strong sources of heat.
• The switching unit may be mounted in any orientation. To prevent moisture penetration, it should, however,
be installed so that the cable conduits point downward.

8. Electrical connection

Maximum voltage is specified with 32V (from about 35V over voltage is detected).
Do not connect the module while under power! Before plugging in the unit, the control system
must be switched off. Please wait for the voltage breakdown of control system!
• The signal cable must not be placed parallel to the motor cable or other power cables.
• The switching unit enables operation at 24 V DC. Connecting the operating voltage to the wrong terminals
can destroy the switching unit.
• The supply voltage must comply with the requirements for safety low voltage (SELV).
• Cables installed outdoors or outside of the switching cabinet must be protected appropriately.
• For capacitive and inductive loads, ensure adequate protective circuits.

For the design of the protection to conform to engineer standards (category 2 with external test request),
the protection must be tested prior to each dangerous movement or during the non-dangerous phase/mo-
vement of the machine. The test is intended to ensure the proper function of the safety relay.

8.1 Supply voltage

With the ELMON inductive 70-755, the controller must make availa-
ble +24 V DC at connector pin 3 and GND at connector pin 4.

8.2 Connecting the stationary coil core

Connect the stationary coil core to pin 1, 2; no special attention is
required for polarity.

8.3 Connecting the control circuits

Available at pins 5, 6 is the control circuit to be monitored for the
closing movement (Stop Closing); available at pins 7, 8 is the corres-
ponding control circuit for the opening movement (Stop Opening).

8.4 Test signal

Pin 9 is used as the input for the test signal of the controller to check
for the proper function of the ELMON inductive system prior to a
dangerous movement.
10
The contact is powered by an internal resistor to 5V level. By apply-
ing a GND signal, an externally requested test is performed.
