Hotplate
You can preheat your cups on the hotplate (1)
The hotplate is placed at the top in the recess which is provided for it. As soon as the device starts
heating the water in the water tank (18), the hotplate is automatically heated at the same time.
Inserting / Removing the Drip Tray
The device is supplied with a drip tray (11) because espresso / coffee may drip from the
portafilter (8, 9) after the cup has been removed.
1. Insert the drip tray into the bottom of the device. Insert it at a slight angle so that the drip tray
can lock in place. Make sure that it fits correctly in the device.
2. Place the storage plate (12) on the drip tray.
3. To remove the drip tray, tilt it forwards slightly and carefully pull it out of the device.
Filling the Water Tank
1. Open the water tank lid (19).
2. Take the water tank (18) off the device by pulling it upwards.
3. Pour water into the water tank. Make sure that you fill it at least up to the MIN marking and
no higher than the MAX marking. Only ever use water to make coffee; do not pour milk
or other liquids into the water tank!
4. Insert the water tank into the device by sliding it into the device from above. Make sure that
the locking lugs of the water tank sit in the recesses which are provided for them on the device
(Picture C).
5. Close the water tank lid.
If the water in the water tank is not used within two days, pour away the remaining water
and refill the water tank before you use it again.
Inserting / Removing the Sieve Insert
1. Insert the sieve insert you want (6, 7, 10) into the corresponding portafilter (8, 9). When
you insert it, make sure that the small locking lug on the sieve insert fits in the recess on the
portafilter. Otherwise the sieve insert cannot be inserted (Picture D).
2. To remove the sieve insert from the portafilter, turn the locking lug on the sieve insert to-
wards the recess on the portafilter. Then pull the sieve insert out upwards.
Filling Sieve Inserts for Powder and Pads
1. Fill the sieve insert (6, 7) after inserting it in the corresponding portafilter (8) (see "Inserting/
Removing the Sieve Insert"), depending on the sieve insert with the aid of the measuring
spoon (4), with espresso / coffee powder or with coffee pads (Senseo™ type, E. S. E type).
With espresso / coffee powder, make sure that the sieve insert is not overfilled (note the
MAX marking)!
