a timer starts. Once the set time has elapsed, the
second pump starts if the third pressure switch is
triggered, provided that the deactivation point for
the second pressure switch is not reached first. If
the pressure reaches the deactivation point for
the second pressure switch, the second pumps is
switched off once the set follow-up time elapses.
The delay created by the timer is only available
again once the deactivation point for the second
pressure switch has been exceeded. Otherwise,
the second pump starts as soon as the pressure
falls below the switch-on pressure for the third
pressure switch. (see function flow chart)
CAUTION! Risk of malfunctions!
The switch-on pressure for the second pressure
switch must be larger than the switch-on pres-
sure for the third pressure switch.
Monitoring the mains voltage supply
To improve operational reliability, the mains
power supply is monitored continuously. The sys-
tem monitors for the presence of all phases, a
right-hand rotating field and overvoltage or
undervoltage. If a fault occurs, there is a visual
fault signal, the "operational standby" signal lamp
goes out and the collective fault signal is trigge-
red. The error message does not have any effect
on the pump function in the event of fire extingu-
ishing. The error message is self-acknowledging
once the cause of the error has been remedied.
Low water
To protect the pumps against dry running, float
switches or level electrodes can be used on the
switchgear.
When the protection against low water level is
triggered (open contact), a visual fault signal is
emitted and the collective fault signal is triggered.
The error message does not have any effect on the
pump function in the event of fire extinguishing.
The error message is self-acknowledging once the
cause of the error has been remedied.
Note for 2-pump controls:
A level control level is used for each pump as dry-
running protection. The factory wiring means that
both pumps can be operated with just one sensor
for protection against low water level.
If one sensor is used for each pump, the factory
wiring must be removed and the sensors connec-
ted directly.

Control voltage failure
If the control voltage fails (control fuse), the con-
tact for the "operational standby" signal opens
and the associated visual signal goes out. The
pump can then only be operated if there is a red-
undant system.
Wire break and short-circuit monitoring
The lines from the system's pressure switch to the
FLA switchgear are monitored for wire break and
short-circuit, in accordance with DIN 14462.
If a fault occurs dues to a wire break or short-cir-
cuit, the pump is switched on. Control via the
pressure switch is then no longer possible. If a
fault occurs, a visual fault signal is emitted and the
collective fault signal is triggered.
Test run
To avoid longer standstill times, a cyclic test run of
the pumps is provided. The factory-configured
test run takes place automatically after 24 h. In
this test run, the pump is activated for 10 s. During
the test run, the safety functions, such as the
thermal overload protection, are active.

6.2.2 Setting the PLC

To operate the system correctly, the date and time
on the PLC have to be adjusted during initial com-
missioning. To do this, open the switch cabinet
and switch on the main switch.

When working on the open switchgear, there's a
danger of electric shock from touching the live
components.
This work must only be carried out by qualified
personnel!
Setting the date and time
• Press "OK" button ? "Menu"
• Press "down" cursor key 4 times ? "Set clock" fla-
shes
• Press "OK" button twice ? Menu for setting the
date and time
• Press "OK" button ? Numbers flash (change hours
and minutes with the "up" and "down" cursor keys
and change position with the "right" and "left"
cursor keys)
• Press "OK" button ? Cursor flashes
• Press "down" cursor key ? Cursor flashes for day
and month
• Press "OK" button ?Numbers flash (adjust as
described above)
• Repeat the process to set the year.
• Press "ESC" 3 times ? Initial menu
