6 Description and function

6.1 Description of the product

The FLA switchgear is used to control single or
double-pump systems in accordance with DIN
14462 for fire hose reels of type F. The pump(s)
are switched on and off by the control depending
on the pressure. The pressure switches connected
to the control are monitored for wire breaks and
short-circuits. The double-pump system is desig-
ned as a redundant system. All the system's swit-
ching states (e.g. standby, operation and pump
malfunction, pressure switch triggering) are dis-
played visually by LEDs on the door.
Potential-free contacts are available for forwar-
ding messages to the building management sys-
tem. The thermal motor protection is only
effective active in test operation is otherwise only
used for signalling.

6.2 Function and operation

6.2.1 Functions of the FLA switchgear

Switching the FLA switchgear on/off
After connection to the mains supply, the switch-
gear can be switched on or off using the main
switch on the inside. To prevent unauthorised
activation of the main switch (as per DIN 14462),
there is no handle on the switch cabinet door.
DANGER! Risk of fatal injury!
When working on the open switchgear, there's a
danger of electric shock from touching the live
components.
This work must only be carried out by qualified
personnel!
Once the main switch has been switched on, the
system is ready for operation about 1
-2 seconds, provided there are no faults in the
mains power supply. Operational readiness is dis-
played by the signal lamp
Pump request
If the pressure falls below the target pressure on
the pressure switch, the associated pump is swit-
ched on. The white signal lamp indicates the pump
request.
Once the pressure reaches or exceeds the target
pressure, the pressure switch switches off and the
white signal lamp goes out. The pump switches
off after a set follow-up time (factory setting:
30 s).
In a double-pump system, there is also a third
pressure switch that prevents both pumps from
switching on simultaneously.
The first pressure switch controls the first pump
directly. If the second pressure switch is triggered,
English
lighting up green.
