Section 5 Operation
Fire hazard. This product is not designed for use with flammable liquids.
Chemical exposure hazard. Obey laboratory safety procedures and wear all of the personal protective
equipment appropriate to the chemicals that are handled. Refer to the current safety data sheets
(MSDS/SDS) for safety protocols.
The analyzer connects to an SC Controller for operation. Refer to the controller documentation for
instructions.
A status indicator on the top of the analyzer shows the operating condition. Refer to
on page 8.
The analyzer, chemicals and electrode are temperature sensitive. To prevent incorrect
measurements, only operate the analyzer with the door closed.
5.1 User navigation
Refer to the controller documentation for keypad description and navigation information.
On the SC1000 Controller, push the RIGHT arrow key multiple times to show more information on
the home screen and to show a graphical display.
On the SC4500 Controller, swipe on the main screen to the left or right to show more information on
the home screen and to show a graphical display.
5.2 Startup
The internal temperature of the analyzer must be within the operating temperature given in
on page 3. After the analyzer is energized, wait a minimum of 1 hour with the door closed to let the analyzer
increase the temperature in the analyzer to the operating temperature.
After startup, the analyzer starts a warm-up phase before the automatic measurement cycle starts.
The warm-up phase is approximately 15 minutes when the analyzer temperature is more than 15 °C
(59 °F).
Note: The lower the temperature of the instrument, the longer the warm-up phase will be.
5.3 Configure the analyzer settings
Configure the analyzer settings as follows:
1. For an SC4500 Controller, do the steps that follow:
a. Select the main menu icon, then select Devices.
b. Select NH6000SC > Device menu > Configuration.
2. For an SC1000 Controller, do the steps that follow:
a. Select the main menu button from the pop-up toolbar.
b. Select SENSOR SETUP > NH6000SC > CONFIGURATION.
3. Configure each option.
