ATTENTION
MegaBox MB – Centrifugal fans
– A uniform inflow and a free discharge must be ensured.
– Upstream and downstream components or those that are directly in the air stream must not have unprotected
aluminium or steel surfaces. According to DIN EN 14986, paint containing aluminium must not be used (risk of a
thermite reaction).
– If there is a danger of lightning, the systems must be protected by suitable lightning protection measures.
– Product must be located at a sufficiently safe distance to transmitters or be protected by suitable shielding.
– The regulations for avoiding an ignition hazard due to electrostatic discharges (TRGS 727) must be implemented.
22 Personnel qualification
Installation, servicing, maintenance, removal, assembly, repairs and the installation of spare parts may be carried out
by qualified personnel (e.g.: industrial mechanics, mechatronics engineers, metal workers or persons with compatible
training) with the exception of electrical work.
All electrical work must only be carried out by qualified electricians.
Operating, simple maintenance and cleaning work on the unit (e.g. filter replacement, maintenance of the condensate
drain) must only be carried out by instructed end users.
23 Protection against contact
During installation, observe the generally applicable regulations for labour protection and accident prevention!
The operator is responsible for compliance!
– Any contact with rotating parts must be avoided. Make sure that no persons, textiles or other materials which
could
be sucked in, e.g. personal clothing, are close to the fan intake area.
– Certain fan types are delivered with a protection grille on the intake side as standard. Depending on the installation
conditions, a contact safety device on the discharge side may be necessary.
– Fans protected by their installation (e.g. in ventilation ducts or closed aggregates) do not require a protection grille
if the installation guarantees the same protection. It should be noted that the operator will be held responsible for
accidents occurring as a result of missing protection devices.
24 Air flow direction and direction of rotation
The units in the MB Ex series have a fixed direction of rotation and air flow direction (reversing operation is not possible),
which is marked by arrows on the units. The direction of rotation can be checked on the motor impeller. An incorrect
direction of rotation results in significantly reduced performance and increased noise levels, as well as increased power
consumption, which can destroy the motor.
With regard to the electrical connection, three-phase current types be connected by interchanging two phases for
counter-clockwise rotation in the clockwise field of rotation.
During installation, the correct air flow direction must be ensured!
The incorrect direction of rotation can cause the overheating of the motor!
25 Speed control
Explosion-protected fans in MB Ex series are not speed-controllable and must not be operated using a fre-
quency converter!
Motors of the increased safety "e" version are generally excluded from operation with frequency converters.
