Switch the radio ON. The LED will flash up Red and then Green, followed by an audio signal. In
case the LED flashes up once more Red in lieu of the audio signal, it indicates that the audio
signalling function is switched off (see "Switching LED and audio signal ON/OFF").
Adjust the desired volume on the radio.
For voice transmission press the transmit button/PTT (fig. 1/a) and keep it pressed (the LED
flash up Red) and speak clearly into the microphone (fig. 1/c).
EADS TPH700: If the transmit button/PTT is pressed while the channel is not busy, the LED
light Red as long as the transmit button/PTT is pressed. If the transmit button/PTT is pressed
when the channel is busy, the LED light up Red as long as the transmit button/PTT is held down
and a long alert beep will be heard.
To end the communication let the transmit button/PTT go.
After use disconnect the CT-MultiCom from radios, the accessory interface of which remains
energized even after switching the radio off (e.g. STP 8000), in order to save battery life.
3.2
Use with earphone (option)
Connect the earphone if you want to receive covert voice transmission. The connected earphone
switches the built-in speaker of the CT-MultiCom permanently off. The built-in microphone remains
active. Connect the earphone as follows:
Switch the radio OFF.
Connect the CT-MultiCom to the radio and switch the radio ON.
Remove the protection cap of the 3.5 mm jack socket (fig. 1/d)
Plug the 3.5 mm earphone jack plug into the socket
Fasten the earphone on the ear (follow the earphone's instruction manual)
For using the earphone, proceed as indicated under 3.1 :Connection to the radio - and voice transmission !
3.3
Connection and use of external headsets (not included in scope of supply)
Bear in mind that a CT-MultiCom with "symmetric speaker" identification can only be connected
to a headset labeled with the same marking.
For connecting external headsets use the 4-pole socket to MIL C-9177 standard and proceed as
follows:
Switch the radio OFF.
Connect the CT-MultiCom to the radio and switch the radio ON.
Remove the protection cap of the 3.5 mm jack socket (fig. 1/e)
Plug the headset's plug into the 4-pole socket
Switch the built-in speaker ON or OFF (see also: "Switching the speaker ON/OFF")
Green flashing up of the LED followed by an audio signal acknowledges connection or disconnection of
the headset.
Observe the operating instructions of the external headset.
For operation proceed as indicated under 3.1 :Connection to the radio - and voice transmission"!
Built-in speaker and built-in microphone of the CT-MultiCom are muted when using the external
headset. You are able to additionally switch on the built-in speaker, if required (see: "Switching the
speaker ON/OFF").
3.4
Connecting both, headset and earphone
Simultaneous connection of an earphone and a headset is possible. The speaker is automatically
muted. The button (fig. 2/a) switches the external earphone ON or OFF.
3.5
Three-stage volume control
With the button (fig. 2/b) the volume can be adjusted in three stages.
The button (fig. 2/b) switches from "loud" to "medium" and "low" volume. This function is active for
earphone and headset as well. Each setting makes the LED flash up Red and you hear an audio signal.
Basic setting after radio switch-on is "loud".
On CT-MultiCom devices (Part-No. 0962017) with "symmetric speaker" marking for use with radio
EADS TPH700, volume adjustment is possible only on the radio. Button (fig. 2/b) is without function.
