Cleaning / Maintenance
Opening the unit is not permitted other than as described below!

Caution! Danger of burns!
The print head / extruder and print bed could still be hot.
Allow the SIMPLEX unit to cool down for at least 30 minutes before cleaning and maintenance
work.
Only carry out cleaning and maintenance work on the SIMPLEX unit if it has been switched off.
After 1,000 hours of operation, the printer must be cleaned, and used and
worn parts in the printer replaced.
The printer shows a corresponding warning message.
If this display is shown, at least the following components must be replaced:
• Nozzle
• Kapton film
Service and oil the recommended parts as often as recommended in the Cleaning section. Only
use the maintenance materials recommended by Renfert.
11.1
Cleaning
⇒ Clean the housing and the cover of the SIMPLEX 3D filament printer with a damp cloth.
Cleaning the print bed:
⇒ Move the print bed into a position that facilitates cleaning (AXES
⇒ Only clean the print bed with spirit-based glass cleaner or pure alcohol and wipe with a dry cloth or
paper towel�
11.2
Lubrication
The SIMPLEX 3D filament printer should be lubricated at least once after every 50 hours of opera-
tion or every 6 months.
Only lubricate the following parts:
For the print bed:
• Guide rods of the z-axis
• Threaded rod of the z-axis
For the print head:
• Guide rods of the x and y-axis
The following tools are required for lubrication:
• PTFE-based spray lubricant or grease
• 2 lint-free cloths or thicker paper towels
• Gloves and safety glasses
• Light to adequately illuminate the interior of the SIMPLEX unit.
11.2.1 Lubrication of the z-axis
The guide rod and threaded rod of the z-axis are located inside the printer at the rear.
⇒ Select the AXES
⇒ Adjust the print head and the print bed to the home position
⇒ Switch off the printer and disconnect the power plug.
⇒ Slide a folded paper towel or lint-free cloth between the threaded rod and the back to protect other
areas of the printer from any overspray that may occur�
⇒ Spray the threaded rod at a relatively short distance to avoid overspraying. Ensure that the lubricant
reaches the inside of each thread� If you use grease, use gloves to spread it�
⇒ Be careful not to over-lubricate, only spray the minimum amount required�
⇒ Do not spray the two guide rods directly! Spray the lubricant onto a cloth and use it to lubricate the
guide rods�
