Introduction
This document describes how to install and connect power to the DC power cooling
modules (PCMs) in your ME Series 2U storage systems.
The standard documentation that is supplied with your ME Series 2U system describes AC
PCMs that are connected to an AC power source. Except for the information described in
this document, all features of the AC PCM described in the standard documentation also
apply to DC PCMs.
This document is applicable to the following systems:
• ME5012
• ME5024
• ME412
• ME424
In general, follow the instructions in the Hardware Owner's Manual or Deployment Guide
for your ME Series system for installing and setting up your system.
For instructions related to installation and connecting power to the DC PCMs, follow the
instructions that are provided in this supplement.
Wiring requirements for a DC power cooling module
Observe the following warnings and cautions when working with the DC power cooling
module.
WARNING: For equipment using -(48-60) V DC power supplies, a qualified
electrician must perform all connections to DC power and to safety grounds. Do
not attempt connecting to DC power or installing grounds yourself. All electrical
wiring must comply with applicable local or national codes and practices. Your
warranty does not cover damage due to servicing that is not authorized by the
vendor. Read and follow all safety instructions that came with the product.
WARNING: An energy hazard exists if the safety ground cable is omitted or
disconnected.
WARNING: The system chassis must be positively grounded to the rack cabinet
frame. Do not attempt to connect power to the system until grounding cables are
connected.
CAUTION: This equipment is designed to permit the connection of the earthed
conductor of the DC supply circuit to the earthing conductor on the equipment.
See the installation instructions. If this connection is made, all of the following
conditions must be met:
• This equipment must be connected directly to the DC supply system earthing
electrode conductor or to a bonding jumper from an earthing terminal bar
