- Page 10 MN009407A01-AB Chapter 1 : Vehicle Charger Overview Chapter 1 Vehicle Charger Overview The vehicle charger kit is used for charging a radio or battery alone when inside a vehicle. The vehicle charger kit includes a mounting bracket to mount the unit inside the vehicle and wire harness. NOTE: The Vehicle Repeater System (VRS) toggle switch and LED feature provides a control signal at the back of the power connector that can be used to enable different applications.

- Page 13 MN009407A01-AB Chapter 1 : Vehicle Charger Overview The charger has IMPRES 2 charger with battery communication feature. The charger logs in charging events and data in the IMPRES 2 battery. The charger does not have automated reconditioning as the IMPRES 2 desktop chargers do. The vehicle charger does not initialize a new IMPRES 2 battery. To maintain the fuel gauge capability on the appropriate radio for an initial calibration and subsequent recommended recalibration, the unit indicates when the IMPRES 2 battery needs to be taken to an IMPRES 2 desktop charger for reconditioning or calibration.

This could damage the charger. Operation of the charger is automatic. When a portable radio or a battery is not in the charger pocket, the charger is in the standby mode.
