This water pump is designed according to the latest BMW design that eliminates the rubber
isolators between the engine block and water pump and changes the mounting bolt length.
This water pump kit includes the latest-specification 26mm thread length steel mounting bolts
that replace the original 32mm thread length aluminum mounting bolts. The new mounting
bolts are reusable.
Important! Failure to follow these steps may result in engine block damage.
• Do not reuse the original steel or aluminum engine block mounting bolts or purchase
OE replacement torque-to-yield aluminum bolts to install this water pump. Use only the
three 26mm long steel engine mounting bolts provided with this pump.
• Do not apply locking compound or additional locking hardware to the supplied
steel bolts.
• Torque the steel bolts to 7 ft-lb (10 Nm) in one step after hand tightening. Do not
perform the torque-to-yield procedure used for the aluminum bolts.
• Do not attempt to install the rubber isolators from the original water pump.
