turn the pump switch off (Fig. 05; pos. 2).
3) Allow the machine to warm up to the preset
temperature, indicated by the red dot going
OFF (Fig. 08, pos. 4) in the lower right corner
of the display (Fig. 08, pos. 2) indicating the
switching off of the resistance.
To heat the group dispense some water (about
500cc), the optimum temperature is reached after
about 5 minutes.

5.1.1 PID digital temperature control

The coffee machine UNICA is equipped with a
PID digital temperature control that can handle
two different temperatures in the boiler:
coffe
adjusts the temperature in the boiler from a mini-
mum of 80°C to a maximum of 100°C.
steam
adjusts the temperature in the boiler from a mini-
mum of 105°C to a maximum of 120°C.
The adjustment of the temperature in the boiler
depends on many variables such as outside tem-
perature, humidity, quality of the coffee, etc. and
is set at the factory at the average temperature of
90°C for coffee mode and at 110°C for steam
mode.

5.1.2 Activation of machine heating

Turn on the main switch (Fig. 05, pos. 3) to power
the machine (red light ON Fig. 01 pos 15); the
display (Fig. 08, pos. 2) shows the temperature
measured in the boiler and a red dot (Fig. 08,
pos. 4) in the lower right corner of the display
indicates the activation of the resistance.
The red dot (Fig. 08, pos. 4) will remain ON until
the preset temperature in the boiler is reached.

5.1.3 Setting the boiler temperature

changes and go back to displaying the tempera-
ture in the boiler.

Press the button (Fig. 08, pos. 1), the display will
show the message "CoF" and pressing "+" (Fig.
08, pos. 3) before the expiry of 3 seconds, you
can increase/decrease the boiler temperature set-
ting by pressing "+" or "-" (Fig. 08; pos 3 - 1).
steam
Press the button (Fig. 08, pos. 1), until the display
shows "StE" and pressing "+" (Fig. 08, pos. 3)
before the expiry of 3 seconds, you can increase/
decrease the boiler temperature setting by press-
ing "+" or "-" (Fig. 08; pos 3 - 1).

5.1.4 Temperature conversion

Warnings:
The machine allows you to choose which unit of
measurement of temperature is displayed:
°C (Celsius).
°F (degrees Fahrenheit).
To set a value, press the button (Fig. 08, pos. 1)
the display will show "CoF"; press the button (Fig.
08, pos. 1) the display will show "StE" ;press the
switch (Fig. 08, pos. 1) the display will show the
unit of measurement of the temperature set at the
factory in °C, press the key (Fig. 08; pos. 3) in
order to change the unit of measurement of tem-
perature using the keys (Fig. 08; pos. 1/3).
5.2 Switching on during normal op-
eration
1) Plug in.
2) Make sure that there is enough water in the
tank.
3) Turn on the main switch (Fig. 05; pos. 3) (red
led on Fig. 01; pos. 15).
4) Allow the machine to warm up to reach the
preset temperature indicated on the display
(Fig. 08, pos. 2) by the red dot going OFF
(Fig. 08, pos. 4).
