3. SAFETY INFORMATION

To ensure a safe and a proper Battery life units operation the following
instructions must be accomplished.
• This unit operates with high voltage levels.
• In case of malfunction suspicion, contact Carrier
Transicold service center.
Do not attempt to repair the unit.
Magnetic and electromagnetic fields generated near
current-carrying conductors in electric devices repre-
sent a health danger to people with heart pacemakers,
metal implants and hearing aids.
People with a heart pacemaker, metal implants or hear-
ing aids must consult a doctor before they enter areas
nearby the Battery life unit.
• This unit operates with high voltage levels.
High voltage can cause serious or fatal injuries.
• Disconnect power before servicing.
• Only qualified personnel are allowed to open the
modules identified with this label. It must not be used
by any other person on account of the high risk of
injury.
If the Battery life unit is connected to the power grid
with the Refrigeration unit operating:
1. Turn OFF the refrigeration unit;
2. Turn OFF the Battery life unit by pressing the green
button on the telematics box;
3. Unplug the cable from the three-phase outlet.
3.1. BASIC SAFETY RULES FOR THE CORRECT HANDLING
OF THE BATTERY LIFE UNITS'
Before connecting the power cable to the power grid, check the
cable and the socket for any damage.
Never pull the power cables out of the outlets directly by the ca-
bles. Always pull by the connectors.
Before removing the vehicle from the dock, disconnect vehicle
from the power grid.
Damaged power cable may cause:
• Electrocutions,
• Short circuits,
• Fires.

3.1.1. POWER GRID CONNECTION

Do not connect the power cable to the power grid without turning
OFF the Battery Life unit:
Connecting the power cable to the power grid while the ON light in the
display is lit may cause:
• Sparks to form,
• Electric arc,
• Battery Life unit and Refrigeration unit damages

3.1.2. POWER GRID DISCONNECTION

Do not disconnect the power cable from the power grid without
turning OFF the battery life unit:
1. First turn OFF the Battery life unit.
2. Disconnect the power cable from the power grid.

3.1.3. FERRY APPLICATION

1. Shut down the Refrigeration unit if it is running.
2. Turn OFF the Battery life unit by pressing the green button.
3. Press the Service Disconnect red button.
4. Plug the AC mains from the ferry.
5. Turn ON the Refrigeration unit.
The opposite procedure must be done when leaving the ferry.

4. BATTERY CHARGING REQUIREMENTS

To protect from full discharge, Battery life unit will needs to be
charged regularly and you must not leave it unplugged for more
than 60 hours.
Never allow the battery to fully discharge.
In case you would do so, it may not be possible to charge it any-
more and battery itself or other components may be damaged,
which would void the warranty.

4.1. RECHARGE

• Battery life needs to be recharged on power grid at 100% minimum
every 7 days .
• Battery pack needs to be connected to the power grid continuously at
least 5 hours every 7 days.

4.2. LOW AMBIENT TEMPERATURE

• Recharge In case of frozen temperature, It is of extreme importance to
charge the system to 100% if the system is not going to be operated
for more than 60h.

4.3. PERFORMANCE

• To limit low ambient temperature impact on battery capacity/
performance, the Battery life unit must be connected every day in case
of frozen temperature.
